Yeah, but I don't think the it's very balanced yet. There are some events that need refining and it seems like Russia always allies with Germany unless it goes Syndicalist.
Hmm. So should I wait until they fix it up before downloading? Because the only way I ever beat Germany is by allying with Russia...
Well if that's true then nothing would really change in your gameplay, since if Russia isn't commie, then they just help Germany crush you instead of just watching from Moscow.
One time, I was playing as Nat France. Germany steamrolled the Commune as expected. I helped take out the syndicalists in Spain and had just took over the syndicalists in Italy and gave it to my other Italian allied, the Italian Fed. Germany then declared war on me. I wasn't panicking. That was until I found out Germany was allied to the Russian Federation. All of my African territories were taken within a few months...
Yeah, it's difficult. It sucks playing as National France because you cant bring anybody into the alliance because you are not the leader. If Carlist Spain wins the Spanish Civil War though, there is a chance Xavier will approach you with the Mediterranean block and if youn accept and every other nation he offers accepts, you will be no longer in the Entente, and instead allied with Portugal, Italian Federation, and Carlist Spain. However, the KIngdom of Spain won, and Xavier never approached me with the Mediterranean block, so I was stuck with the Entente, where I got nothing but air support.
Also, another thing about the new patch is that Germany gets some nerfs in the way of Black Monday events that let you choose economic policy and they give you lots of dissent. So much dissent, that I've seen several of their colonies gain revolt and gain independence. Specifically, Malaysia and Morocco.
They have a new scenario, if that's what you mean. It's like a battle scenario from Hearts of Iron II except it's set during the German intervention in China.
