the movement speed of a standard GE star destroyer is 670 km/s while a lunar class Imperial war cruiser is 590 km/s

the speed of the smaller Imperium are about the speed of the star destroyer.

imperial navy ships used by the imperium use void shields to protect themselves from energy weapons (the only thing the GE use btw) and have been known to weather a full nova cannon hit when their void shields are at full.

the bow of imperium ships are armored with a ram plow in some cases 300 meters thick.

do you honestly think that a star destroyer could beat a Retorbution class battleship.A Imperial battleship is 6-8 kilometres long, whilst a Star Destroyer is 1600 metres long

an Imperium lunar cruiser is about the same size as a star destroyer

Love that pic. Warhammer always looks better in black and white. It translates to epic. :D

    Hit! But Total Miss!
The Imperium's standard weapons in space are far superior to those of the GE. The boon for the GE is greater overal manuverability. Though in sub-light the GE is outmatched by the Imperium, their use of hyper-drives give them an advantage in going from place to place. This translates too...[drum roll]... nothing. The adverage Imperium world churns out its own armadas and troops every year on annual quotas to 'donate' to the cause of the God Emperor and the Imperium. The ability to move faster in FTL will only translate to getting to the battlefield faster and getting massarced thanks to the Imperium's far greater arsenal.

    Note on FTLs:
Both factions use FTL technology that requires pre-scouted 'tunnels' in order to reach a location. That being said, the GE has faster and safer FTL than the Imperium, who has to deal with Chaos, Warpstorms, and bad navigation every time they go in as well as longer trasit times.

Technically speaking, if these two factions ever really ran into one another and went to war [assuming both having solved their problems back home] the war would take millenia as the two factions send out entire armadas of scouts just to find paths into the other's terrictory. Not to mention that neither have actually waged inter-galactic war, that is to say, they have never moved out of their respective galaxies before, though both have been invaded by extra-galactic groups.

In the words of Candeous Ordo, aka Madalore the Preserver, in describing an encounter with an 'astroid that spat fire that melted our armor like wax' and moved beyond the Known Galaxy,
"An being stupid enough to risk its neck in that meaningless void is not worth our effort of catching."

Imperial, GE also create huge amounts of ship. Many people fail to realize how many planets are really in the Star Wars universe as well. Not to mention the GE had just as many troops as well. They had several quadrillion troops. And also, the days of cloning were FAR from over. Ever heard of Spaarti cloning canisters?

Anyways, Both Empires wouldn't be able to get a foothold on each other.

I find the fact that you used my site/forum designation in your reply to be disorienting considering the frequency of use it has in this particular thread...

    Anyways,
I realise how many planets that there are in the GE. The problem is that the majority of them are simply not militarized like the Imperium's planets generally are. The vast majority of their shipyards are located on specific planets because of the special manufacturing bonus of the region due to excessive resources or the skill of the population. Unlike in the Imperium, standardization is at a significantly lower level in the GE. The soldiers that the Imperium uses usually have standardized training and equipment as well as a zealousy that prompts them to fight. The GE usually has a motted assortment of troops lacking moral coming from oppressed populations. And in terms of numbers: its debatable either way. Neither side actually has a firm idea of the population of either faction due to discrepancies in the books that are written about them. The GE moreso than the Imperium. Imperium supporters can always fall back on the all-familiar intro included in every book that describes, in short, 'The story so far'.
[spoiler:160tifcs]"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly die.Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."[/spoiler:160tifcs]
I did say the Kimenoians right? O yeah... the 'budget clone' spaarti... you mean the worthless dime-a-trillion clones that run headfirst into battle and practically lowered the 40-1 droid-clone ratio to 5-1? If not less? They were so bad that the ARCs and Commandos ACTUALLY NOTICED THIS IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE.
Droids? As far as I am aware, they GE never actually deployed droids on a mass scale. Something about the Emperor's nestalga for actual troops... or his dislike for the inefficiency of the droids... In any case, the Clone Wars proved how effective the SW droids are. Nobody in SW ever won a war with droids, as far as I know...

Those clones that lowered the ratio from 40-1 to 5-1 just makes the clones seem really good. Anyways, there were 4 quadrillion droids, and, numbers are strange, but there were only a few billion clones. And they were not Spaarti trained. Kaminoan trained, who were actual cloners.

Btw, i'd like to add that the droids were winning the war when the war was stopped. Not to mention, saying ARCS and Commandos noticed that they were better thenclones is sorta like saying Navy seals are better then recruits, fresh out of boot camp. It doesn't mean much.

But the galaxy was able to sustain a loss of roughly 365 trillion people, and that wasn't even close to half the galaxy. nor was it close to half the people killed in that part of the galaxy.

And btw, it IS possible to go to the outer galactic void. Teh Yuuzhan Vong did it.

a single imperial hive can have a trillion people living in it. a have world have have roughly 9-12 trillion living on it. hell, earth's pop. is 100 trillion.

the imperium have the upper hand in ground war and in space.

The End is Come! People don't understand ratios anymore!
    No, really, no offense intended.
40-1 is droid deaths per 1 clone. My statement was that the ratio went from 40 droids dying for every 1 clone to only 5 droids dying for every clone. Or less.

What do you mean? Of course the ARCs and Commandos would have noticed. The Kimenoian clones take cover, use tactics, 'think creatively'. The Spaarti clones run headfirst into the battle, into enemy fire and get massarced only slightly less than the droids. The ARCs and the Commandos were the pinniacle of the Kaminoean clones.

I was talking about on individual scales. The clones were spread thin, that was why they were losing the war. Too many droids, even with the Kaminoean clones in play. But in the battles themselves, the adverage clone outdid many droids.

365 trillion over how many years? The Imperium has been able to sustain a constant state of war for 10,000 years. Can the GE arm, train, and mobilize them all? Does the GE even have control over all of them? As I recall, the GE only held so much of the Known Galaxy at their time. And after them, before and during the Yuuzhan Vong War, many more systems were discovered.

Honestly no idea what this means. I assume that you are refering to my theory that inter-galactic fighting would be a pain for both factions. My point was not that it was impossible, just that it was never done by either side before, at least, not on a large scale. Isolated incidents don't really count. And I know that the 'Vong did it. The quote from Ordo I used earlier was in reference to one of their [assumed to be] scout ships [according to the lore].

The imperium would win on the ground but the GE would win in space, because they had the Sun crusher. The sun crusher was a near indistructable space craft (survives hit from deathstar beem) a little bigger than a fighter. It is one of the best super wepons in the star wars univers, it fiers a torpeedo into a star making it into a supernova destroying the whole star system. hows the imperium gona fight that?

Ah, yes, I read one of the books it was mentioned.

As for the size of the militaries, I don't know exactly how large the Imperium's army is (although I'm assuming it's massive), the Empire, as I posted yesterday, has an army (so no Navy) of trillions, apparently. I don't know if the droids are included in that, but I thought the Dark Troopers were pretty impressive machines.

The regular Star Destroyers aren't nearly the largest ships in the Imperial fleet, though. They apparently had 25.000 of them, but millions of different vessels. I'm assuming they don't count the smaller fighters and bombers.

GE Imperial navy star destroyers have the same weakness as human males, hit them in the 2 balls and the cock-pit.

that's one superweapon bro,it can't be everywhere at all times,in a Space battle, with the Imperiums vastly superior battleships and cruisers, they would totally win,Kinetic turrets which are able to neutralise any torpedo or bomber coming towards it.Battleships have 3 separate admantium plates of armour, each dozens of metres thick, see how a Star destroyer can face up against 300ft torpedoes flying towards it from the rows of weapon along the side of a Retribution class battleship,or how it can stand up to a full power nova cannon blast, you tell me,because as far as I'm concerned the Ge doesn't have a chance in hell

Wow, this thread is so nerdy. Personally, i'd prefer the Imperium, simply because it represents humanity, where as great as the Empire is (especially with its posh voices - nothing can stop the Empire!), it's run in the name of the Sith, who suck balls. Plus there's nothing stopping you from making a Star Wars themed Imperial Guard army. The Imperium has Stormtroopers too, only with less plastic-y looking armour. Maybe if you paint some Kasrkin stormtroopers with white armour and give them Star Wars stormtrooper helmets...

Maybe, if of course I wasn't a nerd myself. Just I saw the thread degrade into naming of different types of fictional space ships and had to laugh
It's great to see some love for Warhammer 40k on here finally :)
