An idea came to me about a story. However, it is not really clear in my mind yet what the plot is so I wonder if u guys can help me out with putting it together. Heres what I have so far......................................................................... Some kind of cataclysm happens in this area.(whether its aliens invading, a niclear meltown or whatever else u guys can think of I dont know) Two 8th 9th or 10th grade kids are left. (theres more civilians alive but these are the main characters) Whatever happened, the government doesnt want to deal with and basically leaves the area on its own, and nobody is allowed into the area. These two kids despised each other. One was a popular kid (boy or girl doesnt matter u guys can choose) and one was an unpopular smart kid (boy). however, both now have to work together to help save themselves and the remaining civilians who are mostly too disoriented and scared to help themselves. I would not start your story with a cataclysm. In popular mythology cataclysms usually bring the end of all things. Such was the case in World of Warcraft.

I can give you an idea get a new one!!!! No but maybe you should have a first story explaining how the world gets to how it is then follow on with the character lives before and after the "cataclysm"
If you do chose to write about a cataclysmic event, you have to be really really really..... really creative. The plot is usually cliche.
how about justin bieber and rebbeca black are doing a live gig at their town, thats your disaster, i have given your start now finish it and make millions in a publishing deal!
and in the end they trap justin bieber and rebecca black in a ship in the middle of the pacific ocean and drop 20 nuclear bombs on them in slow motion and catch it on film :twisted:

What if some sort of cataclysm happened and apparently only Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black were left to try and repopulate the world? That would be tragic. And then your protagonists could appear from out of hiding and the story goes from there. Since the protagonists are kids, do they worship J & R as some sort of gods? What if all the autotuners are broken? Do they still have godly status? And who's going to write their songs for them?
That's a good hook for the story. Since it's a popular girl and an unpopular boy that are the protagonists it gives a nice bit of conflict. Obviously the popular girl regards J & R as gods (since it's trendy) but the boy actually has taste and knows they're not. Gives the protagonists something to fight about in this post-apocalyptic hell of a world. Perhaps he realizes that letting J & R breed would spell the complete end to humanity and the epic struggle of good vs. evil begins there? Eventually winning over the popular girl to his side, they destroy the evil of J & R and the book ends with the protagonists pondering their future together.
