   Yes and Fallout time line starts some where between 1945 and 1961, when our "real" universe diverges from Fallouts universe. Although there has been plenty of Fallout universe events long time prior to this time.

   I recommend Robert Conroy's books. They are very good books for those who like a real idea of everything that is going on, instead of getting just little bits of the stories. Also Harry Turtledove, as many people have said. Also, go to alternatehistory.com, create an account, and look through the "Finished Timelines and Scenarios" Section. There you have a ton of extremely intricate and detailed alternate history stories. Also, go to Uchronia.
