I'm gonna stay neutral on the subject and see how it turns out.

Well we have to consider what Kony 2012 was made to accomplish:
    1) Did is raise awareness of Joseph Kony?
    2) Did it cause actions to be taken against Kony?
Well obviously the first question is yes, as we are currently discussing this. However! The second question will be in the negatory. With great awareness has come with an increase in attention to the organization Invisible Children, many people have discovered faults within the charity itself, that, and its founders have turned out to be mental. However, as far as I know, there will still be a march to support the Invisible Children, so it may have spurred action, but nothing to combat Kony officially, but in the future, such things are possib;e, but as of now, the second question will be answered in a negatory.

There would be no point in taking any military action against Kony since, you know, he was defeated before the first Kony 2012 video went viral.....

Jungle Fighting is even worse! Modern military doesn't know how to fight guerrilla warfare anymore because they don't have to! Whereas groups like Kony's still fight with guerrilla warfare and unconventional tactics. We don't want our men dragged through the streets again, or rather, jungles.

The US military (and various other western militaries) have been engaging in a variant of guerrilla warfare for over a decade now. I wouldn't at all say that they don't know how to fight guerrilla wars

Terrorist and ACTUAL guerrilla troops fight with much different guerrilla tactics then what we were fighting with in, for instance, the revolutionary war. Modern guerrilla tactics are terrorist tactics, car bombs, RPG and mortar attack, etc. OUR troops are used to fighting alongside tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as extremely heavy air support.

Are you proposing the LRA would have air superiority against the US in a full scale conflict? The only real difference between fighting in the jungles and fighting in Afghanistan would be the distance of the engagements. A guerrilla force is still going to try and ambush patrols using some sort of explosive device and then most likely run away when they counter attack / scramble close air support

No, but air superiority will not matter in the jungle because the LRA brings all its supplies along with it. We can't really do drone strikes in the middle of the jungle.
Exactly my point. Is that something the American army would do?

Yeah, and that really didn't work out. We failed miserably. It hardly changed the course of the war what so ever. It will be hard to fight in the jungle against guerrilla fighters, who will ambush us, use car bombs, or suicide bombers or what not. That is why it will be a repeat of Afghanistan.

We never lost a battle in Vietnam. We lost that was because of politicians not the military.

We never really won a battle either, because today, Vietnam is a communist nation. But I will agree with you that it was the politicians who lost us the war. They were the ones who put us in it, and kept us in it even after riots, one of which was at the Democratic National Convention of 1968, where police and protesters actually clashed.
