Libya Superthread

Holy shit that would just implode African economies. Good Lord, given the extreme variance in the value of their currencies, the level of FDI in their nations, the vast amounts of debt that some hold, and the national dependence on foreign aid as a significant part of the budget... HOLY SHIT! It would be better (only marginally) for them to just tack their currencies to the US dollar. Dealing with 'Africa as a whole' is the mother of all incredibly complicated and unfortunate ideas.

I can see that. When first pondering the idea it seems good. But when you get down to the economic nitty gritty it kinda looks worse.

When it comes down to it Europe screwed over Africa back in the colonial days, and it is going to remain screwed up for a loooong time.

Unfortunate given the immense material wealth that the continent has. Really I think the divide was about arable land; sub-Saharan soil is the most nutrient deprived in the world. Agriculture is not easy there, and never has been. Perhaps in the future we can see a developed African continent.

Everything was fine and dandy when England, France, Portugal, etc etc were their with their guns to everyones back, lines were drawn stating who was part of which new African country, without taking into account the mass tribal division and hatred.

The only way I can ever see a strong Africa is either through a very, very strong African Union, excluding South Africa. But the more probable scenario is continued separation of nations, which will most likely be even more damaging.

They are ahead of about every other African nation in almost every aspect.

Africa was extremely undeveloped before colonialism or imperialism. Dont make third worldist arguments all willy nilly. Sure, imperialism factors in, but these civilizations were already undeveloped, and infact, europeans did help develop africa, albeit for there interests. I know this isnt what your saying, I just thought I should say this.

What I do not understand is how someone can call themselves a Communist/Socialist yet disregard Third Worldism.

So Gaddafi's attempts to distribute wealth goes unnoticed by CNN, why is that? Again it is to maintain the image that Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi is an evil tyrant. A dictator that can not even control policy's in his nation? I think not.

Also that is not Sate Press, that is free media there. Good job assuming anything that shows Gaddafi's good side is State Controlled, really showing you are not bias there.

Dude, the site's banner is a bunch of copies of the Green Book; its comments are quite clearly weeded to prevent anything rational, and it's only got stories that promote Gadaffi. I click on the Science and Technology section... Featured story? If you were a Libyan, would you hate Gaddafi? Life/Health/Travel? The Green Libya. History? 40 Years of F-UK-US Attempts to Kill Gaddafi. Culture? NATO and Qaddafi: What All Friends of Africa Should Know.

I really love how they have a Business section with subsections: Business, Business Section, and Economy. LOL. The top stories are much what you'd imagine. Another great one? Their perception of the world is thus: Africa (Also known as Libya), Australia, Latina (consists of the subsections Venezuela and the Carribean lol), Europe, the USA (consists of USA, UK, and Israstine lol), and Asia. Asia is probably the most entertaining... The only areas in Asia worthy of "reporting" are apparently Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, and Thailand. And people talk about how the US views the world with blinders on XD!

There is no investigation done by this "media," it's the equivalent to a blog by people obviously as blind as you are or else in the direct employment of the Libyan government.
