It is the Libyan people's responsibility to liquidate such scums who are distorting Libya's image abroad.
—Gaddafi talking about exiles in 1982.
Gaddafi employed his network of diplomats and recruits to assassinate dozens of his critics around the world. Amnesty International listed at least 25 assassinations between 1980 and 1987.Gaddafi's agents were active in the United Kingdom, where many Libyans had sought asylum. After Libyan diplomats shot at ten anti-Gaddafi protesters and killed a British policewoman, the United Kingdom broke off relations with Gaddafi's regime. Even the United States could not protect dissidents from Libya. In 1980 a Libyan agent attempted to assassinate dissident Faisal Zagallai, a doctoral student at the University of Colorado, Boulder. The bullets left Zagallai partially blinded. A defector was kidnapped and executed in 1990 just before he was about to receive U.S. citizenship. Gaddafi asserted in June 1984 that killings could be carried out even when the dissidents were on pilgrimage in the holy city of Mecca. In August 1984 one Libyan plot was thwarted in Mecca. As of 2004 Libya still provides bounties for heads of critics, including 1 million dollars for Ashur Shamis, a Libyan-British journalist.

Dissent is illegal under Law 75 of 1973. Reportedly 10 to 20 percent of Libyans work in surveillance for Gaddafi's Revolutionary Committees, a proportion of informants on par with Saddam Hussein's Iraq or Kim Jong Il's North Korea. The surveillance takes place in government, in factories, and in the education sector. Political conversations with foreigners is a crime punishable by three years of prison. In any case Gaddafi removed foreign languages from school curriculum. One protester in 2011 described the situation as: "None of us can speak English or French. He kept us ignorant and blindfolded". Prisons are run with little or no documentation of the inmate population or of such basic data as prisoner's crime and sentence. The regime has often executed dissidents publicly and the executions are repeated in state television channels. Libya is the most censored country in the Middle East and North Africa, according to the Freedom of the Press Index.

Your point? Israel is one of the worlds largest users of political and journalist assassination.

and the way Israel does it is extremely illegal. :)

I guess thats how you do things when you run a oligarchy.

Anyway, Yah, I oppose Israel as well as Gaddafi's Libya.

Good so you admit Israel is on the same level as Lybia. Israel however has only really used Mossad to kill nazis and terriorists and never political dissadents or journalists as lybia does. Also I would greatly appreciate not having to defend Israel on every single thread.

Then maybe you should stop supporting a terrorist regime. :)

If by "Terrorists" you mean anyone who is associated with a Palestinian Militia.

For whatever reason this Zionist believes it is okay to oppress Palestinian Liberation movements as long as it under the pretext of being "fair democracy"

While defending its existence against hostile Arab forces, Israel took control of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Facing a violent insurrection, Israel has been forced to restrict some activities of Palestinians. Israel cannot concede to Palestinians all the rights Americans take for granted in a nation that is not at war, while Arab states maintain a state of belligerency with Israel, and Palestinians engage in terrorism against Israelis.

Given the constraints of Israel's security requirements, efforts were made from the outset to allow Palestinians the greatest possible freedom. After the Six-Day War, the traditional pro-Jordanian leadership continued to hold many civil service positions and was paid by Jordan. Municipal elections were held in 1972 and 1976. For the first time, women and non-landowners were allowed to vote.

The 1976 election brought Arab mayors to power who represented various PLO factions. Muhammad Milhem of Halhoul, Fahd Kawasmeh of Hebron, and Bassam Shaka of Nablus were affiliated with Fatah. Karim Khalaf of Ramallah represented the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Ibrahim Tawil of El-Bireh was associated with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

In 1978, these mayors and other radicals formed the National Guidance Committee, which vigorously opposed any accommodation with Israel, attempted to stir up broad allegiance to the PLO on the West Bank and incited rejection of the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty. In 1981, Israel expelled Milhem and Kawasmeh. They were allowed to return to appeal the expulsion order, but it was upheld by the Israeli Supreme Court.

Two weeks after his expulsion, Milhem said: "There is no room for the existence of the Zionists under a situation of true peace. They are only capable of existing in a situation of tension and war...and that goes for all the parties...[they are] neither doves nor hawks, only pigs."

Kawasmeh was appointed to the PLO Executive Committee in 1984. Later that year, he was assassinated by Palestinian radicals in Amman.

As part of the Camp David negotiations, Israel proposed an autonomy plan to grant the Palestinians greater control over their affairs. The Palestinians rejected autonomy as an option, however, holding out hope for the creation of a Palestinian state.

For the rest of the decade, Israel, nevertheless, attempted to shift increasing responsibilities from the military to civilian administrators and to Palestinians. Efforts to give Palestinians greater responsibility for their affairs were undermined by the intifada. During the uprising, Palestinian Arabs who wished to cooperate with Israel came under attack and were silenced either through intimidation or murder. Israeli government officials sought to maintain a dialogue with many Palestinians, but those whose identities were discovered became targets.

In secret negotiations in Oslo, Norway, in 1993, Israeli and Palestinian negotiators agreed to a plan that would give the latter limited self-government. Subsequent negotiations have resulted in Israeli withdrawal from nearly half the West Bank and most of the Gaza Strip, and increasing Palestinian control over their own affairs. The Palestinian Authority now governs virtually all civil affairs for approximately 98 percent of the Palestinians in the territories. The expectation is that a final political settlement will result in the creation of a Palestinian state in most of the areas once controlled by Israel.

I'm not going to bother reading Rahm's giant post, but Israel goes after terrorists. They haven't targeted members of Abbas's regime, they go after the "liberation movements" that use suicide bombs on public buses and night clubs. They have nothing against the idea of palestinian autonomy, which is why the let them govern Gaza and the west bank. The only problem they have is when groups launch mortars and cluster munitions into school buses...

A report done by a friend who lives in Serbia from Libya
Nato bombing of civilian areas (places that were bombed include building human rights - Attorney-General and the Judiciary - charities - cultural centers - Center for Rehabilitation of Persons with Ctejat private - and public library)

Explanation: this is a civilian area as you see where people's houses were bombed and knocked down. Destruction all around the place. on 1st-4-2011 a lot of people were injured in western Libya in Alkhums city.NATO bombing A city called Alkhums 100 km from the capital city Tripoli why bomb houses in Alkums?---- is it a fly zone or a lie zone?------i thought that they are protecting civilians-----do they protect civilians by bombing their houses?--------- we also thought that the "fly zone" was targeting the Libyan army, camps and their tanks??

these are a basic questions that the Libyan civilians ask NATO for an ANSWER to them------

    the translation of the video:
a civilian:: is explaining to the journalists what he saw and how it happened,"We where horrified and we didn't get any sleep that night".

the doctor in the hospital:::this is the bombing to the city of Alkums,
on Friday 1st of April 2011, and as u can see your selves the injured people in the hospital-- who where treated by the doctors.

Tens od civilians killed on 31st of March in Ghryan city in western Libya.
Man: After Fajr prayer -in the dawn- I went to wash and then I went to pray in another room, there was a huge shake in the building, I ran to the other room again where my baby was sleeping I found the romm full of smoke and I found my baby throw to the other side of the room and a bomb shell beside him. Part of the shell was stuck to his face but I took it off him then I ran ti the hospital with him. The doctor say that he also has 3 fractures in his left leg , in the thigh, and he has bleeding also on the other side. Look at his face, we could hardly take the shell off his face here. Doctors say that he has to stay like that rapped for two weeks, but God only knows what will happen.
Note: the child passed away .
Men in the hospital: may Allah protect Gadaffi and make him win ,we are not going anywhere , we will stay beside him.
Lady1: May Allah give him victory and help him, Muammer, he is the father of all of us, may Allah reward him happiness.
Lady 2: Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest ,he will take revenge. Allah and Gaddafi and Libya only

THIS was done by NATO bombing on Libyan Civilians in Brega city where they were just helping the armed gangs and hurting the civilians.
Boy: oh you told me u finished, oh my head, it hurts…
    Doctors: that’s ok …we r about to finsh…
Boy : plz just put the plaster on it and enough, it hurts..ohhh!!!
    Little girl: oh mom, oh…
The lady (mom) is badly injured in the face but still she was trying to comfort her injured kids that were yelling mom, mom.
Doctor(1) to the little boy: take off your hands , i will not do anything, i promise.
Doctor(2): this was done in Brega (oil) city by barbaric NATO.. look at the victims ..the innocent kids...and women.. they bombed them last night..
Mom again: “We are not living beside a military camp or anything.. this is not fair.. we r now injured ..and homeless in the desert..why..why.. oh people, my kids died, my husband died..why all this.. now I’m alone , by myself.. I just have my two daughters and son ,but all the rest passed away…. Oh people ,we didn’t do anything ..we are human, we are human “.She says that how come Muslims r killing each other this is not our religion, where are the Arabs ,why don’t they do something???
The nurse says this is a whole civilian family injured and some of them r in the ACU ,they r seriously injured .
The little boy says responding to the nurse's questions that they were hit by a plane , they were at home sleeping.
The old man says that they were sleeping and the planes started bombing us.

The lady in the intensive care says she lives in Brega in Libya an oil area . Her name is Salma .She says that her family was terrified by the NATO bombing, so they decided to go far away from the area in 3 cars full of ladies and children then suddenly everything happened quickly we heard airplanes ,she says that she still hears them in her ears. Her baby girl a one and a half year old burnt and died in her arms. She says all the ones who died were little kids. The reporter asked the lady whether there were any military camps around, she answered NO ,there were only houses and an oil company nearby, she says that she is pregnant too, 7 months pregnant. She says that they horrified all civilians .
At the very end she sends a message to NATO , Qatar, USA, that she doesn’t want foreign intervention ,she wants he normal peaceful life back, we were very happy and safe and sound. She says that :we love our leader ,it's not a lie ,we love him, and now because of all this we can’t even buy our basic things because we r scared of them. She adds , now the ppl living in the middle of Libya where all the bombing is don’t even have electricity . She says the rebels say that we freed you, why and from what from Jews. We used to be free but now we r not.

Doctor: The little boy was hurt by the selling on Brega and jidabiya cities, he was with his family his mom is here sleeping in the hospital too ,we spoke to her earlier . His problem is , his ………………was ripped and he need an operation and doctors will also see if his liver was affected too. NATO used strange weapons and unfortunately his other brother is in the operation room now… they are actually three bothers that need surgery… and the lady in intensive care is their mom…the bombing was horrific!!! As u see the lady said that they were happy before NATO and the rebels, they r just trying to terrify the Libyans so they surrender but it didn’t work although it’s the third day of bombing us, they still want the leader and call “Allah, Muammer and Libya only”. We all want the leader all around Libya, in Brega, Benghazi, Jidabiya … and now we are supporting him more and more ..

Allah, Muamar Libyan only,, we are with you Muamer all of us are with you and we are not scared of Obama nor Sercuzi

injured civilian::: he said "they bombed us in our house when we where a sleep and this is what they did to me and that is why i am in this condition", look look ( pointing to his injured hand)

The other injured civilian:: he said::: my name is Ali, i am from the city of Mizda-- i went out during this morning at 6.00 o'clock-suddenly a rocket hit me in the street -- the children where horrified and screaming, families separated from each other in the streets- they didn't know where to go- people went out side the city, because they where frightened of what happened and what they saw with there own eyes,, smoke and fire was every where, houses where destroyed and cares where burned, it was a horrible scenery that i will never forget

they then went to the houses and the cars that where bombed by the NATO

    Scene 1:
People: look…look at the car and what happened… look at the windshield …. this is from a fragment of a missile…see?
And here in the house , we were sleeping when they bombed us , see this is the bedroom ..look! How the bomb went through the wall from this side to the other!! This is a fragment from the missile…
    Scene 2:
you can see a hospital in an area call Kazahiya , where there is huge damage in the hospital where there were a lot of patients sleeping in. Is this protecting civilians???
    Scene 3:
Man : A food warehouse bombed. Is it a military camp ?No , it’s just for food. Why striking it?
Scene 4: government official visiting patients injured by the bombing of NATO. One of the patients say that they all love the leader and will stick with him until win, may Allah protect him and give us victory the rest of the patients say.

Heavy bombing on a civilian neighbourhood in Libya
here ppl r saying : Allah is the greatest, Alaah is the greatest ..... women r crying and as u c the bombing is close to their house and they r video taping it .

Reporter: Mona how did it all happen?
The last this I remember, when our house was bombed… is that we felt the building shaking and then we all ran out of it ... then we started prying Fajr and … the last thing I saw is me now in the hospital … I don’t remember everything..
Old Lady: Please Allah give victory to Muslims, you are the most merciful, O’ Allah.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This is a hospital in Mizda city that was full of patient in the vid and was damaged by NATO which terrified the ill there.
(Department of Internal Medicine for Women)
Ukrainian doctor: well I want to say thank you to the USA, the UK and France
.. this is their help to the Libyan nation ..look, you look at this … this is a hospital look what they did…this is a hospital for people not a military camp!! And look what you did..is this help for the Libyans???
And we too doctors work here, I’ve been working here for none years.. till now .. I don’t have any problems with the Libyan people or with their leader..and this is your help from 14 countries including America , France and Britain ..And thanks to Russia too, I’m from Ukraine , Ukraine can’t do anything ,but Russia and China
should have done something to stop this!!! This happened yesterday, I came at 7:00 and this had been done .. here sleep women, sick women..this is the women’s section for internal medicine ..this poor lady was asleep here, she was soo ill and this is what she got!!!!!
I’m not a Muslim, ok, but now I respect this country even more..and if you want to say that we are doing this coz of money, you are wrong, we know that we could possible be bombed anytime.. we just want to work here to help the Libyans here..
Oh God , I don’t know what to say, but this is a big problem ..they r not showing the world what they are doing..the UK and France
.. we are here and we can see this, but they will not show this in their channels.
Oh, I can’t even tell my family in Ukraine what’s going on here, I don’t want them to be worried.. but thanks NATO.. I hope you “viewers” can see and understand what’s happening, look there was another patient sleeping here and we sent her to Tripoli to another hospital …look.. where did this bomb come from?? This is just a hospital, where did it come from????? There is no nature problem that caused this .. like in Japan
    ..
    Thanks to u France
and to all of you.. but now I even respect Libyans more and more.. Oh, I really can’t finsh talking.. excuse me ..
    Libyan doctor1: it’s ok , I will speak..
I’m a nurse here, in this hospital , this is Mizda general hospital , and this section is for women.. now after the bombing instead of receiving the emergencies now we are sending the patients out of the hospital to another one.. because the bobming is all on their heads ..is this Muammer’s army?? These are civilians …sleeping in the hospital.. women sleeping in a hospital !!! Look how they bombed on their heads…see these are the civilian ”women” that you want to protect!!! Where did this blood come from??? The patients should feel safe here not afraid and get hurt..
Libyan doctor2: and here we had a patient that died . Please in the sake of God, how r u also bombing civilian houses too??
Libyan doctor3: I swear to God , they are bombing houses too..
3 doctors all together : victory is for us ..we will win ..and Allah, Muamer, and Libya only !! and we r not afraid we will not surrender .. until the end of this world to judgment day, we are not afraid of ur
    missiles.
Man: this is human rights .. that you came with UK,USA, and France
    ..
Libyan doctor2: Look Seeing is believing, this is all..just look around you.
NATO bombing on civilians - Libya
    ??? ??? ?????? ??? ???????? - ?????.7

NATO bombing in Sirt city on civilian areas

As you see, there are a lot of injured people entering the hospital and women crying in pain, the nurses are crying of the horrific situation and a lady shouting “There is no God except Alla, O’ Allah take revenge for us..”
One of the nurses say: “ Please videotape his let that prince of Qatar that rhinoceros see what he did, the Arabs sold us, yes they are dogs, yes Arabs are dogs the rhinoceros of Qatar is a dog…you prince of Qatar, you are a dog, you dog, you will have your share someday, Libyans will always be proud you dog. A doctor says: “ bombing caused some damage to the hospital, as you see the windows are broken and there was damage in the intensive care, the operation rooms and damage all around the hospital..and this led to terrifying the patients that were already deeply injured .

Hmm. They were given supplies by helicopter and told to hold their position. They left after only several hours, assuming no help was arriving. They ran out of fuel and started drifting about. They then drifted near a French carrier, which may have been close enough to be seen, but I doubt it was close enough to imply an SOS. The jets were scrambled to asses the treat and probably assumed that their motions with the babies was meant to show that they weren't a threat. Without the ability of the boat to get closer to the carrier to pull off a visible sign of distress, they were ignored. Sounds like bad luck to me. Not to mention the fact that immediately after they made it to dry land Gaddafi's forces arrested them and detained them for 4 days, which lead to the death of one of the 10 survivors. So really the only ones DIRECTLY responsible for any the deaths of those refugees were Gaddafi's forces. NATO didn't REFUSE to rescue them after seeing an SOS, I'd say they were incompetent and should have maybe investigated further beyond assessing just if they were a threat or not. I also doubt the carrier was told to keep an eye out for a boat in distress.
