Mexico or France Military Embarassment

For one they won World War I against the most powerfull militaristic state in the world.

Mexico epic failed time and time again.
Also, they didn't beat France. They were actually conquered by France. They only beat France's puppet reigm in Mexico, and just barely at that. They would've lost by French direct intervetion but America had just ended the Civil War and had the largest army in the Americas, so it just wasn't worth a blood bath to *maybe* take Mexico.

Other than that, Mexico lost seemingly everything that wasn't against other Mexicans. France had a few victories, especially during Napoleon. Mexico was much worse.

No, France sent a shitload of troops, and they lost against Mexican Guerillas.
And not just Mexican Guerillas, but the Liberal ones. And only the liberal ones. The conservative royalists fought on Frances side.

Ya, originally they did to conquer Mexico. But most of them left when Maximillion was put on the throne. Maximillion created an army that fought the Guerillas but his army was mostly made of Mexicans, not Frenchmen. It wasn't really an Ideological War. Sure more Conservatives fought for Maximillion than the rebels and vice versa for the Liberals, but it wasn't about that.

Maximillion was losing because he was so unpopular and it was just a matter of time. So France was prepared to send their massive army in again to conquer Mexico. However America just finished the Civil War and the entire country was mobalized, equipted, and trained. Because of the Monroe Doctrain America immedietly took a stance against Maximillion and France. If France invaded Mexico they would've probably been squashed by the American army after upsetting the entire World by doing so.

So France backed off. Maximillion had already renounced his Austrian aristocracy to lead Mexico, so he had no where to flee. So he made his last stand against the Rebels, lost, and was executed.

They failed to even conquer a backwards African nation (ethiopia in this case).

I'd say the French just had bad luck when it came to wars.

They did conquer Ethiopia, and they got Libya before WWI. And Albania was pretty pathetic. And they did need Hitler to bail their asses out in Greece.
