This thread is for discussing the market ideas and distribution techniques used by the current producers of Modern Warfare 3, and also a general discussion about the games themselves.

Also, DO NOT post video clips from YouTube onto here, if there are too many I WILL ask a Moderator to Lock this thread

Let's start off with the gamers themselves, how do they get tricked into buying the game, AND the map packs?

In the past, Call of Duty had a great reputation for it's multiplayer and the gamers themselves enjoyed it and were easily persuaded into buying a copy by that alone. but now, what the producers are doing is releasing information about Survival mode, the Zombie-esque gamemode as a front for buying their game. They are also using conspiracy to add hype to the players who generally don't give a shit about anything other than Multiplayer, they are using the exact same consiracy techniques that the players use to screw around with other players.

Now, the other thing I want to talk about is the map packs, it is rediculous that Call of Duty Black Ops has released FOUR map packs in less than a year of it's release! they each cost $20 and provide minimal effort by the developers to produce, which is raking in a huge profit for the consoles and therefore supports them in their rediculous endeavor, on the other hand, BF:BC2 has had a VIP service, allowing you one time purchase of the VIP, so that you may download the map packs for free.
I feel like this is a good example of market persuasion
I was dissapointed in the gameplay, as it isn't very fun in Multiplayer modes, I do not like the weapons, because they all have their own unique recoil styles, which makes it a pain in the ass to use most of the guns at any given range, I do not like the sniper rifles at all, anyone using them is at a dissadvantage, and the M14 assault rifle does the same ammount of damage that the WA2000 sniper and Dragunov sniper can do.

    Feel free to add more.

which is why they're putting out one a year, and making a shit load of map packs for it, creating hype that just doesn't show for itself WHEN you buy it, but looks so damn good in trailers doesn't it?

The sinistry of Cod MW3 marketing formula is obvious. The biggest problem is the so-called Elite service, I'm sure you all know what it is. Activision have announced that: "all subscribed members will have instant access to all monthly downloadable content and various other features."
When we think about it, it, monthly DLC is made up of two maps, so 2*10(11;12)=20(22;24), depends on the time they continue developing the maps. The price of monthly subscription is probably around 8 Euros (the reason AV have been keeping it a secret so long). So- a person will pay 8 Euros for two maps instead of paying 10 for four maps,  PROFIT
I'm sure that the peeps in Activision really messed up their pc sales with it, nut unfortunately, BF3 did the same thing with Origin, so I'm really thinking of not getting any high tech FPS this year. Cheers!

Not sure if Origin has anything to do with consoles, but all I want from BF3 is the new junk that comes out, i'll pay money just not bi-monthly subscription money, and at a fair, reasonable price.

The way they marketed is like how they did Black ops. the yr keeping hush hush till, like 3 weeks when it comes out. and when it comes out, the nerd-gasms that people will have will be crazy... but this-ll last, a month tops.

I don't have x-box live personally, but ive played most of the multiplexer and they all seem fun but it seems there someone that's just mean about winning or losing. its a game.
