It was only a matter till somebody found out but the point it says still stands as awesome as the Mongols were in conquering huge amounts of territories they still had the unique achievement of destroying one of the largest repository of knowledge in the ancient world.

You know the Europeans were in the middle ages at the time. A time where they made virtually no cultural advancement period. Like Mosh said, the height of muslim power would come after the Ottomans conquered Constantinople, which is not for another 100-200 years after the Mongol invasions.

And just imagine what the Ottomans would've been like if the Mongols never came to the Middle East

And imagine how backwards the Europeans would have remained without the accomplishments of the Mongols.

In any case, you have nothing to prove that there would have been any better outcome had the invasions not occurred.
There is over a millenia of time seperating that time and now.
Any number of groups could have destroyed the libraries instead.
Besides which, you cannot guarentee that the Ottomans would not have degraded into intellectual backwardness.
Just look how they fell behind later on.

You know the Turks fled to anatolia because of the mongols. A lot of shit happened that was positive because of the mongols, yeah burning down libraries is bad, but technological and cultural proggresion still continued, and ushered in a new age of tolerance and progression, unless you are the mongols.

The Timurids are Mongols in the same way that the Golden Horde are Mongols.

Funny thing is, if it weren't for the Mongols, the Sejuks would not have been as weak as they were. And if theh Sejuks did not become that weak, the Ottoman turks would have never been able break away and overtake them and become the large empire we know them as.

The muslim "golden age" ended 300 years before the conquest of Constantinople. Sure, they got some advances out of that, but theire technological prime was allready gone...

You're actually correct, they raided and pillaged all the entire Eastern Islamic Empire. However, I don't think this setback anything... Most Islamic knowledge and discoveries were introduced to Europe via Spain.

Exactly, Europe wasn't affected in anyway. It was just the Islamic Empire which adopted conservative policies after this event which further hindered its technological progress thereby resulting in the West surmounting the East in technology.

Well, the Ottomans, which were the height of Muslim power and civilization, an empire almost as big as the Romans, more tolerant than anyone at the time, very advanced for a few hundred years.....yeah you know those guys? Well they came AFTER the Mongols. I'll say it again, AFTER the Mongols. Repeat that in your head and perhaps you'll get it.
