By the end of the war, there were actually a large amount of woman "servicing" the soldiers. But, in many cases when the men died, the woman took their weapons and fought on.

Actually communists preached about complete equality of the sexes and women were expected to serve just like men. In fact, there was over 800 000 women serving as combat personel during the war.

Women serving the USSR was heavily encouraged to the point they trained theme just as hard as the men. The use of women was one of many advantages that the Soviets had on the Nazis.

And in the Navy (tough not as much) but they will be alot of pressure on Women to become snipers. I honestly have to give a big tip of my hat (colbert reference) to the wide use of women in combat during the 2nd world war.

They got a job in every branch in Red Army, but they tended not to recruit them to storming- or line infantry, tho that was not uncommon at all.

I'd heard of the pilots and snipers but never of any of the other things women did in the Red Army during the second world war. Makes the UK even more sexist than ever we still don't allow women to serve combat, they can join, but they're not allowed to fight.

Also in the battle of Berlin isn't it said that Hitler kept trying to command divisions and such that no longer exisited?

With the Hitler Youth i'm not sure about in Germany i know many boys of the age of 16 and such fought in that battle. But in Normandy the 12th SS Hitler Youth Division had an average age of eighteen. So they were actually of fighting age for the Normandy campaign.

Well he did have them on the map, but say that one battalion is depleated to a platoon and Hitler wants them to cover entire block. Yeah that's not happening.

I actually posted a pic of German boys of age around 15 fighting during the D-Day (and following week(s) in WW2 gallery- topic. I watched a documentary about Battle of Bulge a while ago and there Germans used allot of under aged boys. Yungest "group" was maybe 11-12 years olds.

Girls in uniform are so much sexier than girls in regular girls clothing.

    Too right.

Now i've not seen that i'll have to go take a peak at that, as is my forum life so far has just been this topic. I knew later on, towards end of 44 and 45, younger boys were being deployed but i never realised that some were deployed against the western allies. GOes to show how badly German manpower was depleted by fighting on too many fronts. (And Russian winter to keep this slightly relative :p)

Hitler himself was rewarded an Iron Cross 1st class in 1914 and an Iron Cross 2nd class in 1918. Ironically he recieved his Iron Cross 2nd class from his direct superior lieutenant Hugo Gutmann who was Jewish.
