No, he was killing people to spread his revolution. I don't see how there's much of a difference. He wasn't exactly all for equality and freedom, just look at how slavery was re-established on Guadeloupe and Haiti. There wasn't any de-throning as he was simply replacing them.

Whatever he was... He was without doubt more succesful than all his siblings together! But later on he needed them anyway to control parts of Europe.

Was it him that declared war on Austria? Was it him that declared war on Great Britain? Was it him that declared war on Prussia? Or was it those countries that declared war on him...

Russia was sending troops to the border and was making it pretty obvious that they intended to attack him.

I do agree though that Russia beginning to trade with Britain again played a part in Napoleon's decision to invade.

I can see reason about Russia invading Napoleon's Polish protectorate, I don't know if they would succeed, only if they avoided fighting against Napoleon himself.

How so? Once again, he was did not declare war on Austria, Britain or Prussia, THEY DECLARED WAR ON HIM.

Quite. Although some (*cough* British) won't ever admit it.
The Code Napoléon is still used (in some extend) in Belgium and France today. So yea, we do own 'em a bit.

You can see it this way, he freed the territory that is today your country from those pesky Habsburgs and that allowed you to form your own country because the Dutch weren't strong enough to hold it as their own.

yep, he's definitely a mix of all, as nobody is a saint, but he was a hero for a lot of people, for me especially since his invasion of Portugal allowed Brazil to actually become an independent country.

He is a mix of all 3. The Napoleonic Code of Laws is in constitutions in some form or another all around the world. Also if he was a real man and general he would have stood by his troops in Egypt till the death, and he lied about victory there when he returned to France.

Depends on what country you come from you mean...
Does anyone think there is any chance the US would have intervened in the case that Napoleon managed to survive and continue conquering until say, the 1830's-1840's? Or where they not powerful enough yet?
