Who was right? I am of course talking about the civil war, If the south won would slavery really have prevailed? the south were protecting there rights and property, and with the north taxing Cotton and raising tarrifs, who was right? the north were fighting for the freedom of the slaves and to keep the union alive... But the south were defending there rights of property and some were driven to poverty because of the trade tarrifs, but did the end justify the means? millions of americans died, but was it all really neccesary? would the CSA ever denounce slavery? I guess the question I am asking is Who was in the right? did either cause have justification? and did the end justify the means?

Well if you're a normal human being who doesn't like slavery(to say the least) the choice should be obvious.
I know that a lot of people died during the ACW but you could say that about WWII. Both wars/interventions were justified as, for lack of a better word, human rights were being violated in the extremes.

Well all I have to say is that if the South would of won I think that they would of stoped slavery at some time in history but it would of been much later than 1865, but I find slavery one of the most evil things that man kind as ever done so I'm with the North (I am from New York State and we did give the most soldiers to the Union ), but I can also see why the south would fight it was their way of life after all.

I presume they would have. Us British came pretty close to entering the war on the South's side, that would have been interesting to see. Also makes us look kinda bad. And if I appear to have any support for the Confederates, that doesn't change the fact I really (and probably unjustifiably) don't like the south. Especially the accents.
Edit: Actually the accents are okay, it's the stereotypical cowboys, rednecks and hillbillies I don't like, in particular I don't like their disdain for federal authority. Or their casual racism.

I would have let them go. They were, and have been, slowing us down.

I can't stand being around the 'South' at all, they just don't understand what they're saying is fucked up. They don't notice Portuguese, German or even my ever apparent Canadian features, however, they still bash those groups (Hispanics, Canadians, and the rest of europe) relentlessly and I'm listening to them dazed unable to respond. They can't shake their history, they can't learn, they're retarded.

It's funny because that is what they did to black people! Haha

But seriously, the place is unpleasant, I'm happy with the north.

The North was right, and anyone who sympathizes with the South is traitorous, racist, democracy-hating scum.

If the south won they would have been like south africa. They would have ended slavery later but remained apartheid up to the 80's or early 90's and the north was the only good gay in that conflict

The South, in 1864, heavily pressured by their own General Lee, conscripts slaves in an offer of manumission for themselves and their families. Using the extra ones conscripted, Lee wins one battle in the East and the next day a large battle is one in the West, against Sherman. They win the war and because slaves were manumitted, all blacks are granted manumission and suffrage in the 1890's. This is certainly plausible. However, you should pick out that book and others by the same author, they are interesting reads about how history could have gone.

Well the Civil War was fought over states rights. Somebody from the time period said that all of the issues that caused the war could have been resolved with compromise and without war except slavery. Funny think is by the end of the war, the South actually began to allow slaves to fight. By then it was too late, but the South had technically abolished slavery before the war even ended.
