If this is true, then this free will thing really sounds like a big deception. Also, if this is true, and I won't be going to heaven, where God and his mob of mindless bigots (and, of course, the people who were actually kind, like Jesus told them and stuff) are hanging out, and I'll be condemned to a place where I can meet those who thought for themselves, came to reject God, yet helped humanity forward, then I'll gladly march straight through the gates of hell. Then again, I have no reason not to believe my conscience dies when my body does, so I doubt this'll ever happen, but still.

And Ler, is there really anything you should be apologising for? You're basically saying sorry for the actions of those you had no influence on. It's the same as any Christian would now apologize for the Crusades, or a Muslim for 9/11 (to keep the religion theme).

The apology was aimed moreso at those whom I may have harmed as a result of my former beliefs, on these forums. I don't believe any single person can claim to represent a belief as broad as atheism, or any religion.

True, it's just that I don't remember you expressing yourself too strongly against religion, apart from using a term, which doesn't sound like something you'd apologize for. Could be just me missing some posts, though.

Jesus didn't fight Jews, he revolutionized their beliefs into Christianity.

Yeah, somehow, people think the Jews killed Jesus or something, though. Seriously, if people have to blame something on someone, they just use the Jews. Why can't they use something that is extinct, or not real, like unicorns or something?

Actually I was talking to the priest about atheists and he said "Anyone can get to heaven as long as they live a moral life."
bender: You said he fought Jews, which he never did.

NO! The badass dinosaurs (more well known as the Dutch) are NOT to blame for ANYTHING. EVER. WHY am I capitalising random WORDS?

Yes, but that conflicts with what TheKoreanPoet said, which isn't the first time I've heard it.

I think he meant the Nazis claimed Jesus fought the Jews.

What benderwas trying to say was that Christians blamed Jews for the death of Jesus at one point.

Why do you need your priest to confirm this?

With them being a figure of trust, Biblical knowledge and authority, I can understand consulting him on those kind of things.

Is there something wrong with consulting my good friend and the person who helps me understand God about a religous matter?

That's your choice and I can't stop you. But Hell is not all fine and dandy. I hope I see you up in heaven, but it's not likely.

Question to all of you. What do you view Hell as?
My view on it is it is a place where you are isolated from everything, like a prison. But you don't have what you are capable in life because you are just a spirit.

If God is not willing to allow those who lived a good life into heaven, then it's certainly not a place I'd enjoy staying for eternity. But, as I said, I fully expect my conscience to die with my brain, so I'm not worrying about anything.

I'm not saying anything is wrong with it. I just think you should make that decision yourself.
