Ottomans- A Europa Universalis 3 After Action Report

*note* AAR stands for After Action Report for the non-paradox forum lurkers.


'Ello everybody! To celebrate the establishment of the JosefVStalin.com forums, I am starting up its first-ever Europa Universalis 3 AAR! It shall be of the Ottomans, starting at 1399, on normal, everything being regular except for lucky nations, which shall be set to random.

Now, for the ground rules:

1)no haxxing/console commands
2)no save reloading(except for stubborn vassals-they aren't allowed to say no!)
3)Should I fail and somehow get annexed before 1550, i'll restart the AAR from that point as another country.


Goals for the AAR:

Shall be decided by you! What do you want me to do? A world conquest? Turning all of Europe sunni muslim? Total trade domination? Tell me below!

Well, since the Ottoman rulers considered themselves successors to the Roman empire it only seems natural that you should try to reconquer the territory held by Rome at its peak.

I don't care what you do. It will be breathtakingly easy as Ottomans.

Depending on the goals, it could get quite difficult, especially if I don't secure certain provinces/weaken some countries quick enough(ie Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, the colonial powers in Europe, rapidly expanding Ming).

I would say. . . Try to create a single unified Islamic empire (Sunni and Shite)

i agree with Byzantium's Revenge you should aim for Rome and establish a Muslim roman empire. would be awesome!!

well if you insist on being the ottomans I say aim for the americas. I want to see Spain's colonies wither as the mighty ottomans conquer all there is in the new world.

however, I would love to see you play as the orait horde, or the mongols. If you can bear the atrocities of european civilizations, conquer as norway

I think it would be fun if you expanded east into India and later China

I like this. AI always goes into Hungary and Russia. Plus, with DW making the East more interesting, this is even better.

Really? Usually, the Ottoman Empire isn't too powerful when I play, and usually ends up with just a bit more then what they started with.

They usually dominate in my games.

Hmm, the Mamlukes usually are more powerful in my games, but end up falling anyway. Interesting how this game is different every time you play.

My last file got ruined. I was Milan, created Italy and was HRE, but I got pwned by Great Britain. I underestimated them as I had already beaten them in like 3 wars and thought they weren't much of a threat anymore. I can't stand to lose in strategy games, and when I do, I usually quit the file.

Alright, so it looks like you guys want me to push into the East and the New World, eh? Well, request granted! Expect the first update tomorrow since its 11:30pm atm here in the eastern timezone(I need ma sleep!).
