I am a devoted Catholic. I truly believe in God, and the Bible. My Dad was raised catholic, and my Mom was raised Jewish. I go to church every Sunday. Two of my brothers are practicing catholics, and one of my brothers is agnostic, and hates church. I love all forms of Christianity and Islam, and am highly tolerable to other faiths. I nearly became an atheist, but in the end it just made my catholic faith stronger.
Buddhism is not an 'atheistic religion,' as I've explained before, and it does have a hell equivalent.
Yeah, so it seems. Like I said (And as you can see), havent bothered myself to start learning about religions I dont really care about. Interesting first post. Not sure if troll or serious. Especially the part about loving Islam.
I like to learn about other religions and cultures, so therefore I enjoy diversity, so thats why i'm pretty cool with Islam. And I'm not a troll
Islam isn't what most people in the western world think it is... I'm just fine with Islam and most religious friends I ever had were Muslim rather than Christian...
I clicked 'religious' in the survey because I am a Christian and many people would define that as a religion. I would agree with that to the extent that Christianity is my faith, however a religion implies that we are doing something in order to get to God, whereas in Christianity it is not what we do but what God has done for us through the person of his son. That is my position.
...And in order to get to God you need to accept him as your lord and saviour, right? I think thats "us doing something in order to get to God", dont you think?
No it isn't, because accepting him as our Lord and Saviour requires the realisation that we add nothing to our salvation. But I understand where you are coming from; to clarify, I mean that things like good works and going to church do not make someone a Christian, it is their faith. However, faith is most observable when accompanied with these other things, but in the end, it is the faith that saves the person.
I told you man, I told you we shouldnt argue here. Ah, I gotcha. Kinda like playing Battlefield Heroes: Play for free, pay to win...Except you dont need to pay but you for some reason have the chance to pay so winning would be easier even though money cant buy you skills... You know what, bad example. Or was it?
This isn't arguing, it's.....explaining lol Something like that. Basically, it can be kinda explained with these two big words: 'Justification' and 'Sanctification.' The first one is the moment when someone believes that Jesus is the Christ and recognises that they are a sinner who needs to be forgiven. The second one is an ongoing process through the person's life after that point, transforming the person more and more into the image of Jesus Christ. The two can never be separate. You cannot be 'saved' and then not see your life change. You also cannot say 'I do good works, therefore I am a Christian' because the Justification part has to happen first. I hope that makes some sense...sorry if it seems like a debate
It's the Coffee House, you litterally can't just say "Oh, no debates". Otherwise this would be in off-topic and be more of a census.
Atheist. I think religion is a personal thing and I hold no feelings of superiority over religious minded people. I just can't imagine having a better understanding of reality than others just because of my beliefs.
I'am a Roman Catholic, I was raised in a catholic family. My father is catholic and my mother is baptist. I view religion as what Seleukos explained above (Seleukos, damn good job). I think religion spreads regardless of it by human or by self and religion counterspreads other religions (I an explain into detail but I'm lazy). I don't view most "main" religions as "threats" to my faith. The only religions I view as "inferior" is pagan faiths, Persian Islam, and Hinduism. All others, I'm on good terms with all the others
I am a Catholic, although I do not believe in what people'd define as Catholic. It's more that I was raised as a Catholic, and I believe in some parts, in other parts, I'm not sure, and I don't believe in some other parts. (Weird sentence...)
