In you guys opinions, do we currently have the technology to build a permanent moon base, by which I mean something akin to the bases we have in the Antarctic. This would be permanently manned by cycles of scientists.
We have the technology and the resources to become a space-faring empire. So yes. This happens to be another one of those "Can, but don't." things that the human race gets.
I've spent a great deal of time researching this before. Yes, as a matter of fact some nations have plans to. But with robots, not humans. That would just be a waste, to use humans.
Or any sci-fi really. The common thread is usually total unity on Earth. Or Holy Terra for that matter.
I like the way you think, but why stop at the moon? I say we launch robots into space indiscriminately!
Which is why I specifically say the technology but not the current willpower or even ability to launch the number of rockets needed.
Yeah, and besides. What does the moon hold for us? Dust? Rocks? Maybe water, although I am not very sure. So it si not economically feasible, and the benefits are limited. Reminds me of, "We have the technology, but I don't want to spend a lot of money."
Helium-3. Solar power. Water. It's easier to both construct and launch spacecraft in low gravity environments, so it could also be a launch point for Spacecraft to leave Earth's orbit. It would also be good practice for future missions to Mars. Also it might be colonized when humanity becomes too large for Earth.
Nah, shame on you for not already posting such information before I posted. You could have saved the minutes of my life I wasted replying and making posts.
