The HRE has some special mechanics in EU3, and in essence, it's a highly decentralised elective empire. There are a few electors that will decide which country will have the next Emperor. That country will have bonuses like increased manpower and forcelimits. If a country declares war on a nation within the HRE without a good CB, the emperor will be called into the war. Reforms can be voted on, and can eventually lead to the HRE uniting into a single nation. A new mechanic is the Unlawful Territory mechanic, where a nation will get infamy, stability hits and the threat of the Emperor declaring war on them or demanding the province to be returned if said nation holds a province that they have no core on within the HRE. A nation outside of the HRE can also disband the empire once certain conditions are met. I probably explained it quite badly, but it boils down to this: All nations within the HRE are independent, and generally fall under the protection of the elected emperor. Luckily, it isn't one big alliance, as that would make it ridiculously overpowered (although one of the later reforms makes it so that the emperor gains the entirety of the HRE as vassals). As EU3's main focus is the era of colonisation and exploration, dynasties and families aren't focused on that much, CKII is the game for that. Right now, I think my ruler isn't even a Habsburg, but from the Hesse-Kassel family. You can have ridiculous amounts of Royal Marriages, which can all lead to Personal Unions (Where one ruler rules two countries. In this case, both countries remain independent, although the junior member of the union will no longer be able to conduct certain diplomatic acts and will be called into any war the senior member gets involved in. However, once the senior member gets a peace treaty and isn't the warleader, the junior member stays in the war for some reason.). Also, sorry for my terrible explanation, I'm generally quite shit at doing that.
People seems to like my stuff, so here's some more. If you're interested in doing this kind of thing yourself then just ask. You will need a powerful system, and even with one the games generally aren't actually playable at this level of detail. Click on the pictures to zoom. Borderlands. Wanted to try something different. Obligatory Skyrim dragon shot. Specifically, this is Alduin, the biggest scariest dragon. Unfortunately taking shots from this high up means the background is washed out. This is probably one of my best shots. I like the way I got the lighting and fog to interact with all the elements in the scene.
I play on normal, I'm gonna juice the difficulty up though because I get heroic victories more or less all the time these days. I also play with Darthmod all the time, and I don't play campaign.
Not the Orcs! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Wrong series, but eh, what the fuck.
