No, No. The robots. You know, your own kind that you like way more than humans and we just programmed you to be brainless and kill them?
In all seriousness, we aren't going to have Terminator like robots fighting each other. It will be drone tanks, drone aircraft, etc, and they will probably work in conjunction with humans.
No because when one side is out of robots it will use humans. Who are much more efficient combatants.
That is not how war works. Verry simplified a war occurs when people have different opinions ideas on issues and one side ultimately forces the other side to accept it. Ultimately in your proposal Robots would have to force Humans. War is not a sport where everybody shakes hands at the end with somebody accepting defeat willingly. Usualy in wars, "losers" only accept defeat if threatened by death. Let's imagine a scenario. Germany turns into evil dictatorship again and decides to take over Switzerland to steal all their women. Now obviously this is a totaly unacceptable to every Swiss. They would loose their homes and would face serious consequences. Up to a point where giving up their lives for the security of their families friends, their homes and values etc. becomes a terrible, but reasonable price. Do you really think that the Swiss people would just accept a defeat of their robots? No! Now obbiously this is a redicolous scenario, but in essence all wars start with a inacaptable demand. Unless you apply more serious consequences(death, punishment etc.) You will not get people to accept them.
I guess it is the sad truth that we can't use full robotic warfare, and Mosh is probably right that we would just use drones and such to work with humans.
I agree with mosh, robots(drones) will never replace humans when it comes to war, they will just be used alongside soldiers. Anyway I think powered armor would be a much better direction to go(and cooler), then trying to replace humans with machines.
PEW PEW, BROOM BROOOOOOM, KRAAAAIIIIIISCHHHHH KABlOOOOOOOM. -Robot warfare as imagined by intelligent 5 year old children
A robot can never replace the quick-thinking and ingenuity of humans. If a robot ever did then it would be smarter then us, which is a very bad thing.
Anybody ever see the movie "Surrogates". That is the closest we will ever get to robotic warfare where all the surrogates are controlled by people.
Because its a video game.... Also guys, if it costs 6.9 MILLION to make a tank, just in 1999 how much do you thin it would cost just to make 1 smart physical A.I that would perform just as good as an average US marine?
