Why not? Pre-order discount, easy access, Steam Workshop. Of course, if they screw up with some server issue or something like they ended up having with the first game would be shit, but as long as they don't have Steam integration, it should work just fine.
No I'm telling you that a bunch of barbarians with little to no organization shouldn't be able to form a phalanx, which is quite a powerful formation.
I know I was being sarcastic. It didnt carry well. I'm curious about how the Marian reforms will take place.
What do you guys think were the hardest opponents in Rome when playing as Roman faction (before Marian reforms). My choice would be the Britons, because when I played as the Julii they had taken a strong foothold on the continent so I had to fight them quite alot + I fucking hate chariots.
Eehh, the Gauls were pretty annoying, the bastards had fucking infinite armies. They tended to absolutely smash my morale as well.
Greeks no doubt for me, with equites being expensive I found it hard to maneuver around the phalanx and i got utterly crushed.
The Egpytians because no matter what they always seemed to steamroll through the Middle East. Other than that the Britons were ridicolous
Macedonians gave me the most trouble they always took over all of Greece while I was off fighting Carthage. Real pain in the ass when Macedon invades Italy from the Balkans
When i play as the romans i pretty much steamroll everything. Though my play style focuses on constant attacking and exterminating places for money to fuel my armies. I would usually destroy the biggest threats before they got any good units. I always found the Dacia and Scythia a bitch to conquer though. When i play more conservatively as Carthage Macedon always anoyes the crap out of me.
I remember in my Germania campaign I managed to bribe all of France from the Gauls with only half of my money. I didn't use cheats. So, they should probably make it so I can't do something like that...
Thats with Rome without diplomacy mods, I think the best diplomacy is in Shogun 2 from what I've seen.
Make vassals possible. I mean seriously it's almost impossible. I capture all but one of their cities rape an pillage all i can. Attack macedons last remaining city with 3 stacks. Offer them 30000 and all their cities back if they become my vassal. They decline. What the fuck? Also do so that if you are a vassal you lord doesn't attack you the next turn. No matter how big I am i always accept if I'm asked to be someones vassal because it's so rare. They always attack me on the next turn. The fuck is that shit.
What kind of expansions do you guys think will come with game. A remake of Barbarian Invasion or Alexander or a completely new one. If there is a new one what do guys want it to be. I'd like to see a Diadochi expansion.
I'm assuming they'll make the exact same game, but then in a different timespan, like Shogun 2. They'll milk the living hell out of it, especially considering the Romans were around for such a long time. I hope they'll do a better job on them, though, I couldn't even begin to play the original expansions.
I would like to get few opinions from you guys: First. In which timeframe do you think the game will be set? I'd hope that the main focus would be on late republic and early empire. Also how do you think they're gonna do the change from republic to empire.
