Everyone thought it would be a stupid move when they went Shogun 2 instead of Rome 2. And then FOTS instead of Rome 2. And now its gonna be the same story here.
Most people agree that empire total war could have been an amazing game if it was patched correctly. People will want to go back to it.
    Ill explain later.

Well, the first Shogun came out before Rome, it makes sense.

Exactly, but they both got sequels (If you wanna call napoleon a sequal) or seconds before Shogun 2 came out.

I'm hoping for Rome II Total War. Or Total War: Rome II. Whatever you want to call it, I want it.

I'm not too bothered about a Rome 2 right now. The longer it is after the first Rome, the more improved on the original Rome 2 will be, which can only be a good thing.

Personally, I'd love to see Creative Assembly focus more on small parts of the world for a game, rather than more large scale games. Perhaps a Greek city states one, or one set in Dark Ages Britain (think the Brytenwalda mod). That way each area and time period can be explored in more detail, which can only be a good thing.

I think for some time periods though, it has to be large areas. For example, you can't have Empire Total War without India and the Americas. Likewise, you cant have Rome 2 Total War without the middle east, parts of India and all of western and central europe.

Of course, and I have enjoyed Total Wars with large scales in the past. I was simply suggesting there is an equal amount of fun to be had when a game focusses in on a smaller area, and CA should not be afraid to do so.
And in every time period, there will be some large conflicts, but often there are smaller ones happening elsewhere, which could have the spotlight placed on them.

Yes but I think for the most part, those smaller areas should be more confined to expansions. For example, having a Greece focused expansion for Rome Total War.

I think its pretty clear that they're going for the WWI scenario. That was the whole point of the "Last Samurai" thing. They wanted to find out if they could effectively do a modern war with the turn based system.

No, think of it like walls, only upside down and easily accessible.

They've had walls since the Rome, why would trenches be hard?

Also they had trenches in empire and nappy; they had screens in shogun.

The combat sure as hell won't be realistic. Everyone would probably be defensive. I doubt people will send there infantry into machine-gun fire to get slaughtered...

That's why they can incoperate other weapons like Cannons, Tanks, flamethrowers, and poison gas. Maybe even attacks from aircraft.

I think total war could do it. Tons of people were against the introduction of the gunpowder age and that was more-or-less a success.
