I have an idea for a Total War game that will make everybody know not to double post on this forum specifically.
An idea I had was that you take control of a civilization from the begining of human civilization and lead all the way through the Antiquity Era through the Medieval Era through the Empire era and ending around the beginning of the 20th Century. Be kind of like the Civilization series meets the Total War series. You could call it Civilization: Total War.
It would be cool but leading armies across the distancees in the proper amount of time and have the game from 4000 BCish to today is well impossible. Plus all the units in battle etc. (I like the idea be hard to develop though) I wonder if we could bring Gorilla warfare into total war in some way?
Thank you Grammar Nazi the Fuhrer sends his best regards. I mean more guerrilla warfare, on a grander scale. Imagine commanding a ambush on an army as it passes through the forests of North America...Be epic shit. (I never played Napoleon so, sorry.)
They made the last samurai game because they are going to a victorian era total war. Not world war 1. World War 1 would cease to be total war anymore. Did anyone think how you are gonna incorporate trenches on the campaign map? Or the fact that fighting was just sitting there sniping anyone who showed their head on the other trench constantly (which would mean that would have to happen when you were not in battle). Or aircraft? Just including trenches in general would be a disaster knowing how CA likes to do trenches (i.e. the horrible excuses for trenches in Empire and Napoleon). Oh and what about artillery not being on the battlefield but being far back, how would they incorporate that? Or the fact that generals were never on the frontlines (well rarely).
Victorian total war and onwards = suicide, they would be stepping away from everything that is "Total war". No more cinematic battles no more melee, no more tactics, Rome 2 would be the next step, I see Fots as the tech demo for future endeavors, Total war isnt about Logistics, its not about bringing more industrial might against the enemy, its about tactics, bringing more talented soldiers to the battlefield, overcoming insurmountable odds against the enemy like the heroes of Old, there's no glory or honor in bringing more cannons to a fight to force the enemy into a charge against Machine guns mowing you down, or mustard gas poisoning the landscape, fuck that shit, I want Rome 2.
I'd be happy with Victoria or Rome II. But the more I think about it a middle east or China area one might be quite refreshing.
