    I wonder how difficult the Advanced Placement tests in North America are in terms of topics compared to A Levels.

    Advanced Placement (AP) is a college level course (I think) that smart high schoolers can take. I am in AP US History and Government.

    Correct, If I understand you correctly. At the end of the course you can take a test that if you do well on you can get college credits.
