I read in the second paragraph of your post about the collapsing of nation value, military spending, and business.

Why would anyone ever want to go to Canada? You're barely a country.

The US will never bring back the draft. They don't need to. The foot soldier is a dying concept, at least in its present state. A war with Iran would be primarily waged through air and sea power, troops may be necessary but not in the quantities that necessitate bringing back conscription.

The draft is too universally disliked and should only be used against an enemy that is of a significant threat to America, besides its far better to encourage people to go enlist with money, land, and that felling of adventure and patriotism you get by defending america.

Though My grandfather argued for 2 year conscription for everyone, wish I payed more attention to his reasoning.

The foot soldier is what win really wins wars, you can bomb a country but you need troops to secure it, so thats no going anywhere soon and besides where trying to make are Soldiers more like Knights now.

Air force, well Iran might shoot down some Aircraft but where going to win, and besides we can send in troops to secure SAM sites and to keep the peace.

and America's navy would make Iran its bitch.

They've been saying this since the end of World War 2, and yet when push comes to shove it's the foot soldier that does most of the fighting. Desert Storm was the closest we got to what you're talking about and even then it wasn't until we destroyed the Iraqi ground army in open battle that sadam capitulated.

I would just like to state something quickly. I have talked with Matt several times about the possibility of war with Iran, and in those conversations he told me that should war with Iran come he would move him and his family out of Israel to Canada or the us. I can dig up the exact Skype quote if people would like. It's just a curious contradiction.

I'm not a sell out and I would fight for the people of this country not for the actual government.

We need to do a breakdown of what Iran has got verses what Israel has in terms of military equipment and strength.

Israel has some pretty eager property developers and sinister crypto-fascist special forces while Iran has a holocaust-denying president and rumours of nukes. Well, that's my feeble comedy version. It's not that funny, partly because it's vaguely true.

Even if your friends and family were forced to serve? wouldn't you want to serve with them? My grandfather was in Vietnam he went with his brother who was drafted, He said he never regretted it. I don't like the government right now, but I wouldn't fight for the government I would fight for my friends and family, I would never fight in the army willingly, except if I must.

I wouldn't call it a contradiction, I'd call it wants vs reality. I don't know Matt personally, but I can imagine that he wants his family as far out of harms way a possible. The reality of the situation is that should a war with Iran come, and I hope to God it doesn't, the best way for him to keep his family safe is by fighting. I can't speak for him, though.
