Ok, it looks like we will be going with the Finish culture thing. There are a couple of things I'd like to bring up though -

1st - Personally, I want to lean toward an evil type faction. If we are going for this tribal type feel, maybe we could be a 'Horde' like faction. One idea I had is that instead of conventional warfare, we could lean towards raids/skirmishes, light armor, that sort of thing. One idea I had is that when we raid an enemy town, we dump a pile of skulls on the ground?

Second - Players will be able to claim any house/building/business/cave in the game as their own. So, I was thinking that maybe we should begin dividing dawnstars buildings up amongst ourselves, and sort out our domestic-type laws. So, would anybody like ownership of anything in the town? As the leader of our group, I'd like to claim White-hall for my own.

Well, Mehrunes Dagon fits in perfectly with that. If you want, I could write up some background story or something.

Calling dibs on the museum thingy.

Hmm, they're giving a concert near where I study soon, I'll probably go there with some friends.

Also, I'll go and write some stuff down soon, I'll either post it here or edit it in.

    EDIT:
So, here's what I've come up with so far, I must say I'm enjoying this way more than I thought I would.
The Mythic Dawn has failed. Its members were weak. They were not thorough in their task of assassinating Uriel Septim VII and his heirs, and returning Tamriel to her rightful ruler, Lord Mehrunes Dagon. And now, Oblivion has been sealed shut, without any means for our Lord to reclaim his rightful plane.

But now, the time has come to strike once more. In the cold, northern wastelands of Skyrim, a new order will rise. Once more, Tamriel will be overrun by the Daedra, in one way or another. In the discoveries of Silus Vesuius and the shrine of our Lord lie the secrets to find the means that will ensure his return. In The Pale, we will reside within the shadows, recovering our strength, gathering our Daedric allies and gaining the knowledge and means that will allow us to open the Gates of Oblivion for our Lord once more, striking at all who oppose us with fury. And in the end, when Mehrunes Dagon rules over all of Tamriel with our order serving as his loyal soldiers, the sacrifice of Martin Septim will be in vain, and the works of Akatosh and the Hero of Kvatch will be undone!

However, we cannot reach our objectives alone. Our Lord, severed from his plane, can not fully assist us, and therefore we will need to find allies. The other Daedra are obvious first choices, and all their loyal servants and worshipers can expect refuge and protection at our holdings. Our order itself is highly exclusive, and only through special initiation will new members be recruited.

Akatosh and his sons are sworn enemies of our order, and therefore eliminating any dragon is regarded as an act of friendship towards our order. The use of Akatosh' curse, Shouting, is considered an insult towards Mehrunes Dagon and is highly forbidden within our holdings. Breaking this rule will be followed by punishment deemed appropriate by our Lord.

Another thing we have in common with the Mythic Dawn next to the wish to return Tamriel to Mehrunes Dagon is our hatred for the Blades, protectors of the false Emperor. While we share a common enemy in the dragons, their crimes against our Lord shall not be forgotten. Rumours have surfaced of their return, and any information about their whereabouts will be greatly rewarded.

Also, I think we should change our name if we're going to go through with this. "The Comrades" sounds a bit too happy and idealistic for a bunch of murderous tribals who are trying to summon a demonic god of destruction the size of a stack of dinosaur to kill everyone.

Oh, one last thing, I will add something about the Dawnstar Sanctuary, but I don't know exactly what it'll be yet.

Ok, I like that lore. And indeed, we do need a new name - Something simple, yet something cold, and evil sounding. Any ideas?

The Black Watch/Guard. A band of elite rangers (not as in archers per say).

Well, that's kinda what it comes down to. Although cooperation with other Daedric cults will be encouraged, in general people aren't going to like us for worshipping Mehrunes Dagon.

Also, I noticed the Hall of the Vigilant is in The Pale. It's where the Vigilants of Stendarr (Daedra hunters) live. What are we going to do about that, in the case we're going through with this lore?

As for a name, I thought about something along the lines of Shadows of the Razor, referring to Mehrunes Dagon's artefact that's in the game.

    Sounds pretty good.

Any ideas on the small problems I mentioned? (As in, the Vigilants of Stendarr and the Dawnstar Sanctuary)

I don't know if the Razor is generally connected to shadows. With Shadows and Razor, I referred mainly to the order standing in Mehrunes Dagon's shadow, or even it being his shadow.

Sure, I could come up with something. I'll have to go to university in a few minutes, so I guess it'll be tonight or something.

Regarding both the Vigilants of stednar HQ, and the Dawnstar sanctuary, I'd say we should ask an admin to clear both of them out, and use them for our own purposes. (Housing/base/buisness/etc)

Speaking of which, there is another issue we should bring up - Are we going to allow people to join us, in-game? I was thinking that maybe we could allow them to join us and buy buildings within our hold, but make them second class citizens and assign them a tax.

Also, what are we going to focus on economically? Kara apparently had the idea of selling large numbers of enchanted weapons -I kind of like that idea. It fits our generally theme, IMO. Maybe we could also bulk-sell potions?

I was thinking that we're elite guard that was sent to take province of Skyrim for daedra. We're a mix of faction & guild. We're faction in a sense that we rule hold and a guild in that we're small secret club. While city might be in our control, we appoint some one to rule over it rather than do so ourselves directly. So it's like kings answer to us and we answer to Daedra. Kings do as they wish with their subject peoples, but their duties are to pay us a fine every week (to support our crusade), to march to war with us when called to arms, to worship daedra and make their subjects to do that as well.

Because of this system we don't need an open recruitment. I'd say to join us you have to be an active member of our forums and after that the current members decide if they allow one to join us by voting. If 1/3 of the votes is negative, one may not join us. (But still can join a guild/kingdom/warlord under our command)

Sounds all right, not entirely sure if they'd want to actually do that, but it's worth a shot.

I actually had a pretty cool idea for the initiation/joining thing that I found fits in quite nicely. Not only would initiates take an oath, they also would be struck by Mehrunes Razor once, which has a small chance to instantly kill anyone. If they survive, they're in. If not, well...they're dead. This would represent the approval of Mehrunes Dagon himself, and the ritual would be performed at his shrine.

I'd say only trade with fellow Daedra worshippers and independent traders.
I do like @Karakoran 's idea, and by his suggestion I assume he's an enchanter himself? I was thinking about making an Orc, so I'll be a blacksmith. Dawnstar has two mines, if I'm not mistaken, so that'll be perfect.

We could also provide services like dragon hunting, item recovery (within The Pale) and escorting Daedra worshippers to their shrines of choice.

Sounds interesting. While we would have the look of a normal guild/holding, behind the scenes we'd have a secret order...kind of like the Nightingales.

We'd probably have to wait until a more stable version of the mod comes out, maybe when they have server side characters, which is something they wanted to implement, if I'm not mistaken.

Well we don't have to be "secret" we can be openly worshiping Daedra, that was just a methaphore (and I just raped that spelling) Point is that we're essentially a faction guild, backed by army & lands not our own. We would own like a guild house or something (as a guild) but land & king we owe that in serves us.
