No, I'm saying giving 50 passes a game through the middle of the field and 5 of them actually making it to Villa isn't a godsend, but a lot of people act like it is. Seriously, I think I'll watch Barca games without commentary now, it makes me fucking sick. When I'm watching the CL finals, I don't give a damn if Xavi bought a fucking toaster for his mother.

Passes doesn't really count on a game, it only means your team has just to much time with the ball doing nothing on the offensive.

True, although that counts more for ball possession than passing. A good pass can make or break a game, really. Good passing can also be used to control the pace of the game, or to relieve some pressure.

Well, not if the oposing team continues to agressively get the ball, the Dutch are an example.

Yes. It was an 11 vs 2 game.
But Spain and Barcelona really have trouble when pressured. Look at the first few minutes of the CL. United pressured, and the passing immediately became worse and very sloppy. They couldn't keep up the pressure, though, and Barcelona could play their own game.

As for the WC finals, Robben had 2 perfect chances to score easy goals, but because he's incompetent, he of course missed both and for some reason wanted a penalty...seriously, that guy...

But the defence did hold very nicely, although I guess they were too tired at the end. Of course, Iniesta wouldn't have felt a thing, seeing as he spent most of the game rolling around on the field.

Cool, but wasn't there a league before the Premier that they could possibly have won?

It must have been so frustrating beating Liverpool by 1 point and then losing youre last game and them winning and this was when Liverpool were dominating

I was seeing some old soccer videos and I had a question, do old players like Beckembauer, Pelé or Maradona played better than todays players?

Well the game skill has improved as training diets and all that stuff but Pele and Maradona were so naturally skilled it hard to compare but they worked very hard on and off the ball I mean Messy would be up there with them but C. Ronaldo should never be compared hes so lazy and dives thats the only thing thats wrong with the modern game is the diving

Messi spends a lot of time rolling around as well. Really, both are very good players, although they have different strong parts (Ronaldo is taller and has a better shot while Messi is a bit faster and plays more for the team). As for comparing them with older players...well, I wouldn't know. A lot has changed since then, so I don't think you really can make a comparison.

I see, it's just that todays players are almost as good as the old ones, but not better, I also dislike the diving on todays matches.

Diving should be punished a lot harder, and the FIFA should be run by people who don't just care about their money and power and get those damn cameras installed. I'm still having some doubts about the referees in the international tournaments like the WC and CL, though.

But I really can't say if the older players are better or not. Not only have I not watched a lot of older games, the materials and training has changed so much, I don't think it's even fair to try and compare them.

Ronaldo dives to an extreme Iv seen dives where the person would move his foot away from Ronaldo and he would dive plus now he barely gets rewarded free kicks because refs know him now.Messi most of the time tries to stay on his feet and works for the ball where as ronaldo just sits there and waits for the ball

I've seen a lot of dives from both players, it's just disgusting. They intentionally try to screw over their colleagues, the opposing team, the match and the game itself. No matter who does it (although I'm sure the FIFA wouldn't mind if Barcelona did it), every dive should be an instant yellow card.

And I don't see how waiting for the ball is a bad thing. Why waste the energy? I'd get it if you'd have an opponent near, especially with someone who has the height of Messi. Ronaldo is built stronger, so in theory (I never really paid much attention to it) he should be better in a one on one duel for an approaching ball.
