So, the South Korean military dropped leaflets about the Egyptian revolts over North Korea, together with food and medicine.

Now, I do agree with the article in that I don't see the people of North Korea revolting because of this, but I still see it as a move South Korea shouldn't have made. I mean, things were just getting calmed down a bit after North Korea attacked that island where the South Korean military was training, and South Korea got all mad about it (for good and obvious reasons, of course), so then why do this to stir things up again?

Also, even if the North Koreans revolt, I think Kim-Jong Il's reaction will be much worse then any of the Middle Eastern leaders, towards both his own people and South Korea for starting it.

So, how do you guys feel about this action?

North Koreans are so brainwashed, they wont ever likely revolt untill the horror of the regime is revealed to them by force like in Nazi Germany.

True, that's why I think this is a rather stupid action from South Korea. The only thing this action will accomplish is North Korea wanted revenge.

Maybe they're trying to goad NK into attacking outright, as at that point China would be less likely to back NK, then the U.S could step in on SK's defense... but maybe I'm just being a bit too warmonger-esque on the matter, after all the SK's probably don't want a war, but a gradual unification.

i think that when they dropped the leaflets, they either:

A: wanted to try and solve the problem by the NK's revolting

    or

B:wanted all out conflict to involve china (since NK is sorta like an arm of china) and watch as the chinese and N. Korens crumble from the overwhelming odds. They not gain all of the Korean lands, but they also lose two enemies, which is, lets be honest, the most likely solution.

Well, option A can be thrown away immediately, as there is no way the North Koreans would rise up against their leader because their greatest enemy of all time dumps some paper above their heads. The food and medicine will probably be seen as some kind of biological weapon, and will be destroyed.
Option B is very risky, as noone knows exactly what the North Korean military is like, but it's most likely very large. I don't think China will back them, though. And even if the USA will come to their aid (I honestly don't see why they wouldn't, North Korea is one of those countries you don't want to see expanding), they may be to late, as the North Korean army might just steamroll into the South and take it immediately. They might even have nuclear weapons, and Kim-Jong Il is crazy enough to use them without hesitation.

Indeed, but as he has been indoctrinated by his father, I don't have much faith in anything changing, really.

What may be likely is a slow crumble under the son's rule into a form of 'communism with capitalist tendencies' (ala china). Of course assuming the tension doesn't go hot,

Interesting development.... Can still be perceived as just stirring up the pot, but these are some pretty strong words

Now, I don't know if this is serious, or just more empty threats. I can't imagine North Korea taking on South Korea and the USA on it's own, and if the entire UN would be involved, I don't see China backing them in any way. The threat of nuclear missiles is pretty big though.
