due to the smallness of the game i have reduced the range of some of the larger rage weapons, anyways the line of sight for all but the heavy weapons is blocked
I doubt we'll survive long against a heavy bolter, especially if we use the profile of the actual Heavy Weapon Team models.
Oh I often play orks with mass shootas. A mob of 30 orks, 54 S4 assault shots and 9 S5 shots, at BS2 (5+ to hit), for very very little points. Now Imagine a 1000 pt army with ~2-3 mobs of that... Crush my opponents with dice!.
I tend to use sluggas and choppas, so I can kill things in combat. I also include a lot of template weapons.
Yeah they got gimped in the latest edition, removal of the choppa rule and now only S4 (and I3) if you get the charge. Subsequent turns slugga boys are mediocre and tend to get bogged down and then fail morale (under 10) and get slaughtered. Its a case of getting the charge and absolutely slaughtering the opponent 1st melee turn or nothing. Why I like shootas is they are always S4 and with assault 18'' you can move them around in cover for better armour saves (4-5+), or if you have a big mek, permanent 5+ cover. Whereas in combat you only get a 6+ save, which is terrible. Plus first few times I did this my friends didn't expect orks to be actually able to shoot
Pants, it seems you are knowledgeable on 40k. Out of interest, what is your opinion on...it, if you know what I mean.
Destroyer of friendly competition, devourer of wallets. Me and my friends pretty much had an 'arms race' once we discovered the proper way of playing with army lists etc, excessive list tailoring and unit optimisation followed.
i am sorry this is taking so long but my cam broke so i can't move it forward. up side? i found some good foam board to make stuff out off so when i do get my cam working again (in a few days i hope) we will have a better looking board and bigger board to play on.
The good thing is I usually play against frail armies such as Eldar and the I.G, so when I do get in charge range they tend to die fairly quickly, as long as I don't get bladestormed or killed by a tank. I also discovered burnas are especially useful against a combined squad of 20 guardsmen.
Not when your opponent uses scorpions (4 charge attacks, S4, I 5 in 3+ armour (T3 yes)) they absolutely demolish ork hordes. With IG is always the same, how many casualties you take before its the combat fest. Smart IG will position and sacrifice platoons (~10 guy squads) so when you obliterate it in your assault they are left out in the open next turn for his shooting. But yes flamethrowers are an orks friend, too bad they nerfed burna boys into annoying elite mobs. I still think compared to the other new codexs orks have been severly weakened in the CC department and have to resort to trick armys (such as nob biker death balls).
I can relate to that, it happens very often because of that god-damn infiltrate. Just out of interest, do you use Kommandos(with or without Skarsnik)?
Nope, cost too much for a 6+ save. Same reason I don't use storm boyz. If I want cover saves I'll use a Big Mek, kustom force field ~50pts, get a 5+ cover-save for 2-3 mobs of 30 orks, bargain. Everything is either parked in cover (and shooting) or moving about with the Mek for the cover save (hence my use of assault shootas).
