What do you guys think of the gallactic alignment? I am woefully uninformed on the subject at the moment, but it does seem interesting to say the least.
Nothing will happen becuase the Center of Gravity is Fixacited on Chelsea due to the Maginitude of Dutch Dino's At Her Service, thus keeping balance thourgout the galaxy and causes the Rotation of all Galaxies... Thats How Gravity Works Right? I Missed that part of Science Class.
I don't see how a galactic alignment means anything besides to a bunch of superstitious fools. Its more likely the Martians use the galactic alignment to invade (like in HG Well's The War of the Worlds) then the world ends.
Well to be honest, we have no idea if the gallactic alignment could do something. If you think about it, it's completely up in the air that either nothing could happen, or the poles could completely flip.
The Galactic Alignment has happened before, and the world didn't explode and go out of alignment or fly into space or smash into the sun. Just saying.
Im not saiyng it would go that far. The poles can shift without the earth flying out of orbit you know.
Yeah I know. I just want to say a shift in the poles would destroy every electronic in the world because of the massive EMP the shift would cause.
And you know, send most of the humans flying at ridiculous speeds, killing them on impact with whatever they hit.
No, not at all. The shift in poles will be noticed, but the Earth is already travelling and rotating at enormous speeds, and the poles shifting (which they constantly are anyway, although not massively) won't flip over the entire planet in a few minutes. Nor will all electronic devices explode. Indeed, they won't work, as they work under the assumption that the poles are in their current places, but they can be repaired, especially if we are sufficiently prepared for such an event to happen (if I'm correct, the poles have shifted in the history of Earth already). Another great one I heard was that the Earth would stop rotating for a while and we'd all fly off everywhere and all land would be drowned because everything would continue moving, and the Earth wouldn't, which is the least thought out thing I have heard in my life.
But no intelligent humans were around to watch it happen, so we really don't have any idea whats going to happen if and when they do it again.
Well, there are plenty of ways to try and predict what will happen based on the archaeological evidence found in the periods around these shifts.
True, but I mean we don't know how it would effect our technology. If all the planes suddenly started falling out of the sky, and the ships just halted, that would not be good.
That depends. We know how electronic equipment is affected by magnets, and that kind of logic can be applied on a larger scale to...well, everything, I guess.
