I remember having to tell my High-school history teacher all sorts of things about Eastern cultures. Like what the Orthodox Church was, that St. Petersburg still existed, and that the Russians were not a terrible fighting force that just sent in wave after wave until everyone was dead. (I couldn't correct her on anything having to do with Muslims because she only ever talked about them once when talking about the Battle of Lepento) They probably would have made me the teacher if I wasn't so lazy.

Well, my world history teacher told my dad during a conference that I could teach the class, I'm just bad about remembering my homework. I passed with an A still because I got a perfect score on the final :D

Hell I could have made a lot of "friends" and money with my tutoring if I didn't hate most of the people at my old high school.

Lol. You don't make one of the best European Empires in history squarely on luck.

edit: I could just as well say the Ottoman Empire got lucky because if the Mongols never came, the Sejuks would still be very strong.

Actually, almost all empires go lucky. Hell, the Romans wren't even trying to expand, they just kept reacting to pecieved threats and random greek cities and stuff.

^That is one of the most true statements ever. Most empires did get lucky.

The Ottomans were Seljuks. The Hapsburgs were almost destroyed in 1529. They got extremely lucky in the Battle of Vienna, and Siege of Vienna (1683). They neaded the help of the Poles, Spaniards, and Germans to defeat the Ottomans.

THe Ottomans were a TUrkish tribe living in Sejuk lands that would have never been able to gain control had not the Mongols completely destroyed the Sejuks.

I think the Germans kinda pressured them into it.

No, no. I'm not taking this. The Hapsburgs were the ones who wanted to annex Serbia. Germany may have influenced them, but not THAT much.
