I think nationalism will die. Plus, nationalism is a prejudice feeling which only hinders the ability to think rationally.
Here in italy many of us feel like we are already part of the U S E and they re mad about it, (thats because the european parlament sent mario monti to rule this country aka he wasnt choosen by our parlament) they feel like the Bilderberg's group is some sort of new world order who have taken over our country with the spread threat and even if this conspiracy is real in my opinion thats fine, because our fathers and our grand fathers were so dumb to choose this corrupted political class that we wouldnt be able to erase it from our parlament at once only with new elections. Anyway lets get to the point, i would gladly welcome the U S E and i know this not going to happen any time soon but we have the foundations they only need to built the rest of the house.
It could never happen. People have such different cultures, civil war would break out almost immediately.
No, I don't think the cultures in Europe would play such a big role. Nationalism in Europe is quickly declining.
Maybe so, but a lot of times those people who are nationalists are in the government. Not to mention, what would be the benefit of having a massive Federation like that?
Unity. By operating under one unified government, we can stand much stronger. It would also help getting out of the US' sphere of influence.
This is real life not victoria 2. an in real life we just use buy stocks and goods off each other. The U.S would actually like this as it means we would probally be able to make money in a LARGE countries economy as well would the UAE make good money. That's my take and now that i think of it would the UAE become automatic security member of the UN?
I haven't based this logic on Vicky, but yes, it is a good comparison. Small nations want to profit on big nations wealth, power and protection. Now, in Europe you can clearly see, that the smaller the nations are, the more other nations influence their (especially foreign) policies. This is among the European nations themselves, but nations are also strongly influenced by external countries. This includes Russia and the US, but also more and more China too. The way a federal Europe would stop this effect, is by having much power themselves. The reason why small countries tend to lick bigger countries rear end, is because they need the wealth and power a big friend can offer them. If Europe is strong and united, there would be no more need for this - and more important: we'd be about as strong and wealthy as the US already, too.
Can you describe power for me? i do very well much see "smart" nations playing to big dogs against each other sometimes and coming out unharmed. Also woundn't this federal republic as you describe it start making money in smaller countries in south america and africa? Pro tip if you guys pull it off...don't make ANY deals with the middle eastern countries unless you want to raise some kane.
