I really fail to see what the problem is.
Ligitimate claim or not, the Falklands belong to the British.
You know... the British... those guys on the ****ing UNSC as a permanent member. The guys who the US would support.

There is NO WAY that the Falklands would ever be a war to pay attention to. The only way that the Argentina could hope to take it is with foreign help from a country like China or Russia. The kind of help that would spark a much bigger war for which the ownership of the Falklands would be a minor affair, in spite of being the start. And NO ONE is stupid enough to do that. NO ONE supports Argentina or thinks them important enough to trigger World War 3.

I could see it on CNN: World War 3 triggered over Argentines invading Falklands. Nukes being launched on the Falklands right now!

But you understand what I mean, right?

As a permanent member of the UNSC and a pivotal vote for the US's ideas and with the veto power, the UK is a powerful country. If push really came to shove again, the US may have to deal their hand in on the subject of the Falklands.
It is complicated by the fact that even the Argentinians must understand that without a large amount of foreign support, particularly from the a UNSC permanent member, the war would be unwinnable, even without the US intervening.
If another member of the UNSC DOES decide, for whatever reason, to aid Argentina to take the Falklands, the situation could easily escalate from there.
All in all, if this happened, the war in the Falklands would inevitably be a footnote in a much larger war.

The Yankees were able to keep their distance last time; Reagan was against the whole thing and demanding negotiations right up until the task force was sent, at which point there was little he could do about it unless he wanted to screw up his special relationship with Thatcher. Apparently the US Navy said Britain retaking the Falklands was 'impossible'.

In that war we believed the Argentine military was worth a shit. We were wrong.
Sadly their military junta didn't go so well. Pretty hard to invade an island when your navy refuses to leave its ports.

The British had the ingenious strategy of stating their attack plans on international news.

Argentineans (is this the correct term?) aren't Negro, they're a mix of European and Spanish.

I think I'd rather go to Brazil than Argentina, even though Argentina is probably a less shitty place. Yuri doesn't Brazil have a pretty big poverty problem? What's the deal with all the Favelas and shit?

Okay even if the Argentines would have a claim of the islands what will they accomplish?

Only getting their shepard industry better and pissing of the British, but they don't have a claim on them becouse the Argentinians never actually owned them only they are next to them so they think it's okay to claim them.
It's like if Cuba would say that they should own Jamaica just cuz.

Right, but is Brazil as bad as they say it is what with all the poverty, Favelas, and gang violence? I heard that a drug gang shot down a police helicopter on the news once. And isn't it like, all black people are poor as shit, and white people are like rich and stuff. Just though a brazilians input would be pretty cool.

I don't think this is a very well written thread. I am dissapointed with the very gross racial comments here.

I'd like you to request a change in the topic title, otherwise, I'd like to see this thread be locked.

It's pretty 2-sided, some areas are rich and some poor. But that thing about black people being poor and white rich is untrue. Also if you don't go out in the streets at night you should be fine unless you're in a Favela, and them are not as numerous as one would think of. Although in Brazil you're either rich or poor, mostly because of the minimum salary is very low, converting it to dollars it is around 200 dollars. Also the government put high taxes on everything and even more on imported stuff to encourage industrial growth, but brazilian made stuff that doesn't come from agri-culture is basically shit.
