You know, the funny thing is, we are arguing that the US model is the best basically. In the US you can sue somebody for verbal abuse. Unlike in your country though, you don't get jailed for verbal abuse. Jailing people for verbal abuse is absurd.

Personally, I think that having to sue leads to a lot more false claims than if it goes to a criminal court.

It's going to lead to false claims regardless.

What kind of deranged person believes calling someone a nigger is a criminal offense? I don't care if it's more convenient to label them a criminal. By that logic, it's more convenient to have a dictatorship than a democracy.

Meh, we're going round in circles now. I could just refer you to half the points I've already made.

Just because he disagrees with you doesn't make him deranged.
    He never said that.
How do you jump from being jailed for calling someone a despicable racial slur to YOU LIK3 DICTATERS HURRR DURR?

On a side note, @UtterlyImpeccable, can you actually be jailed for calling someone a nigger or something of that sort?

Certainly not just the word itself. But sustained, genuine racist abuse can get you jailed, yes.

The woman in the video got around 20 weeks.
Not a long sentence, but it sends a message about what our society will not tolerate.

She was arrested for public intoxication and harassment/abuse. Not for being a racist cunt.

"She pleaded guilty to one count of causing racially aggravated "harassment, alarm or distress" by using "threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour".

Exactly she wasn't simply arrested for calling someone a nigger. She was arrested causing a goddamn scene in public and being a stupid fucking drunk. That they tagged the word "racially" in front of the words "aggravated harassment" is irrelevant as it really only serves to specify her motives.

See @slydessertfox? Now how the hell do you get dictatorship is better than democracy from all that?

Exactly, she caused offence through vicious and harrassing racism. That is all I have argued for all along.
It way sly who thinks anyone can say what they want.

And I don't think you'd get a jail sentence for most types of harrassment like this, the fact this was racially motivated certainly contributed to the sentence.

    I know.
My argument right from the start was that anyone should be able to express their opinion, as long as you do so in a sensible and measured way.
Sadly, some people appeared to disagree with me.

Dictators generally like to have absolute control over their people. In a democracy, people are more free to make their own decisions.

And you're free not to make the decision to go up to someone and begin screaming racial insults into their face...

He said its more convenient to try them as criminals basically. I said its more convenient to appoint someone as dictator for life than vote every year for our leaders. Obviously a democracy is better than a dictatorship. I was just showing him how stupid trying someone as a criminal for racial slurs.

I got a nice quote for that

"If you say you're offended about something, thats basically telling the world you can't control your emotions so everyone should do it for you"

Also when you think about it, it is more conveniant to have a dictatorship? why? while the people have the power in a Democracy, majority of people are idiots therefore shouldn't make decisions on how to run a nation.

    Its really not comparable....

And its really not for racial slurs either. Its for harassment. If I went to a black person, got all up in his face, and screamed, "I FUCKING HATE NIGGERS" then I would be arrested, and rightly so. If I simply say calmly among a group of people, "I don't like black people" then I would be allowed to say that with no repercussions, even if I would probably be shunned by society afterwards.

Also, you are aware its a crime to use "public profanity" in the US, right? So I could stub my toe in the mall, shout "FUCK" just as a reaction, and then be fined for a lot of money. So don't go thinking this is just something that those "yurotrash" do.
