i would advise youre brother not to come to egypt because there will probabley be more protests against hosni and his collaborator which also includes the army.
another reason is that egypt currently have no reliable police at the moment and the old regiemes last act was to release all the crimminals from jail
if there is going to be another protest it will be much harder and much stronger than the last one as we do do not want to change a despotic ruler to another.
if youre brother wants to help egypt he can do it in a numder of ways. he could do what i am doing, spread information and distribute important videos on facebook.
if he wants to help egypts economic situatin i would advise for him to wait after the summer until things cool down in egypt.

In defense of their religion, not offense, like the terrorist groups are doing. How hard is it to get it through your fucking head that defending something you believe in is justifiable. Bombing innocent civilians is not. I'm sure you think violence is wrong, but would you just stand there if I'm about to burn your house down?

Was that really hard for you to comprehend, even if it's not a technically correct term? Prejudice. Prejudice against Muslims, or against Jews. It's not that hard to figure out. moron.

Burning my house down? How is that in any way equivalent to insulting or criticizing a religion?

Its the same as people living in a country justifying themselves for defending it.

I'm sick of people carrying on like Islam is a religion that advocates violence. People twist and use religion as a recruitment and motivation tool for political purposes, always have and always will. If you want to start nit picking through the Koran/Bible you can find passages advocating violence.

You are actualy the 23th from egypt i ask this and the 20th with this advise. I find it allways interesting how bad our official travel warnings are. I have acces to security assesments (done by eu and switzerland) and none of them see any danger for european tourists, but yet allmost all of the egyptians i talk to highly advise to wait, althoug you are one of the younger ones. And the travel agencies advertise largely about cheap travels to egypt not warning people at all of the dangers, not neccesaraly from protesters or the military but from the criminals. The official public warning basicly just says that you shouldn't go to the south (border region of sudan) because of obductions and such and that it can come to more demonstration wich should only cause a minor trafficjams and program changes for tourists. And of course the normal terrorwarnings since the 2004 bombing. Also it only talks about pickpocket criminals. And that violence against tourists are unlikely. Sometimes i ask myself who does this assesments? some dude sitting behind a pc who never talks to people who actualy live there. anyways thanks for your advise.

Religion is pretty important for some people. I don't know if you're religious or not, so I was trying to use a metaphor most could relate to. Also, the Koran doesn't say to resort to violence for
it says to fight if someone were to attack with the intent of eliminating Islam.

Replace fighting with Jihad, and you'll have a more accurate translation of that passage. Jihad means struggle, which doesn't have to be violence, it could be any struggle in your daily life like raising money for your charity obligations.

I believe all religions are in some way bad, but religions are not all morally equivalent. I believe that Islam is by far the most dangerous religion at this point in history.

Using violence to defend a country and using violence to defend a belief are very different concepts.

They don’t need to twist the Koran much (if at all) to use it as a recruitment tool for religious violence.

Discrimination against a religious group...its kinda self explanatory.

I guess you meant it as satirical or something.

sorry guys does it really need 3 or 4 topics where you discuss about islam and violence? Can't you just pick one and stick to it? Does every threat have to be about the same issue?

edit; i think kal made a specific threat where he moved posts in. use that!

I would like to see Islam eliminated (not through violence mind you). Should I be killed?

Your interpretation. It could easily be interpreted to mean killing infidels.

WHAT?! A religious group is not a race.

Yes, and the Bible has inspired violence. However secular values have slowly but surely transformed Christianity. That transformation has not yet occurred in Islam.

It's not my interpretation, the definition of Jihad is struggle. Yes, there is room for interpretation of struggle, but the same could be said for countless Bible quotes too. There's plenty of Christian groups who use the violent interpretations of the Bible, people just don't know about them because they don't get any media coverage.

So if I criticize a belief-system that’s no different from insulting a person of a different race? Someone’s race is determined by genetics, a belief is not. People can change their beliefs. Significant difference.

That's your interpretation. It wouldn't be difficult at all to interpret that differently.

Stop acting like I'm defending the Bible! I consider Christianity to be the second most detrimental religion to human wellbeing after Islam.
