That's because both parties know we're fucked. So they'd rather keep us busy with less important things.

If the U.S. defaulted on it's debt (which it won't), serious shit would hit the fan. The entire global economy would be up in flames.

Millions becoming destitute? The wealthiest nations becoming poverty stricken? People everywhere rioting and fighting for food? Sounds like a blast.

Edit- What's going in your sig?

The rich don't revolt for Communism and the poor don't revolt for Capitalism.

Not really about the prevailing ideology after the world crawled out of that economic hole, it's the millions if not billions that would die in the process.

Because millions-billions died before America was the worlds economic orgy right? This world is just so hopeless without America.

It's not the world couldn't survive without America, it's just that it controls so much of the global economy and has it's hand in so many cookie jar's that it's sudden fall would cause a lot more death than it currently is. I'm not discussing politics here, and I don't want to see America fall, but you have to admit that it would be much preferable if America declined slowly.

Personally, I like the idea of burning down the county and collecting the insurance money.

I remember a debt crisis causing the great depression in the thirties and in turn sparking/strengthening the nazis. But hey economic crises are awsome, che said it.

That was caused by the want of democracy, not Capitalism. Nobody revolts for Capitalism, never in history has it taken place, I suppose semi against Feudalism, but other than that, never has or will it take place. Nobody takes up arms so that someone can be their boss and exploit them. That's not how the world works.

I was reading TIME magazine and there is actually a simple solution to how the US can solve this economic crisis if the politicians would think rationally

Here's a great cost-free way to reduce the deficit that's more or less politically neutral: GET CHINA TO STOP MANIPULATING THE RMB OR ELSE TO STOP VALUING OUR DEBT AS $US! Doing so would actually give us a trade surplus with them, for one, which reduces the deficit, and also reduces our held debt because they would have to actually, y'know, value it at what it's worth instead of what they want to value it at...
