The real truth of the matter is he is a mass murdering lunatic and no faction/ideology/ or rational human would ever want anything to do with him, except the Khmer rogue.

He was a Communist, just not a very good one. It would be like saying the Inquisition wasn't Catholic. If anything he was overzealous about Communism, and too busy killing that he forgot to actually practice it.

Cool, being from Scandinavia makes you more trustworthy.
By the way, what kind of dipshit goes to the Media for historical information?

And as it might turn out, most sources say at the very least 1.7 million people (21% of the national population). A few, who apparently trust Pol Pot, say 700,000-800,000.

It could well be up into 3 Million, but even still, someone who kills a fifth of the country can't be a very nice guy.

The same dipshit who goes to Wikipedia.

I wouldn't say it was 3 million, mind you the political structure of the time in Cambodia death can go to any side, so more then likely it was alot lower then 3 million, however even say 1 million is not a good thing and should never be honored or revered.

Damn you, I was gonna say this thread is like me saying I don't think Hitler embodied the true spirit of Fascism or that Napoleon wasn't a very good revolutionary.
Edit: Therefore I voted 'communist' because he was, regardless of what he did subsequently. In fact, I believe Pol Pot was educated in Paris, and picked up lots of communist-type ideas there. So, I shall fall back on my people's favourite last resort and blame the French.

I don't think there are any French people on the forums, so we're in the clear. Damn the French, they always do bad in Europe and their colonies.

It's why he is my favorite president of all time ever, he smashes communism by working with people who claim to be (but are not) communist.

Heck if Karl Marx and Stalin offered assistance to fight the Vietnamese, Ronald would take it.

I didn't say there weren't any French speaking people here, I said there were no people of French descent or have any French family at all.

Why are you off topic, discuss now whether or not Pol Pot's killing rampage was induced by Communism or not!
I do say, good sir, we need some moderators on this thread.

All those communist leaders had their own interpretation of communism...

A French guy wrote the Internationale, the French communist party is doing quite good compared to their counterparts from other EU countries, and Karl Marx's son-in-law was French.

Edit: And why are all those communist leaders educated in France? Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, Deng Xiaoping, ect...

Yeah, you'd think they'd have come here to Britain, to marvel at Marx's grave and talk to our socialist lecturers (it was once said there were more Marxists in British universities than in the CCCP) Half of these countries (well, Vietnam at least) were French colonies anyway; French imperialism is hardly in keeping with Pol Pot's view of the world.
