If you practice this out of respect for family members or are catholic/christian, What did you give up? I gave up Coffee.
I gave up sweets through out the entire, and going to actually fast this lent from sunup to sundown (Miss you food). Happy Ash Wednesday to all Catholics/ Orthodox.
Officially for the Orthodox church we don't accept Ash Wednesday, we have ares on the 27th of Monday, however I personally think that we should move the calender back some in order to strengthen the ties between the two churches as I strive for the eventually reunification of the churches (both to fit the Nicene creed and because my church is dying) Although I start "my lent" on Ash Wednesday cause of the calender issue, speaken of the Orthodox church is getting really involved with the Jewish Calender as of right now we are in Adar. The churches have to make everything so confusing, maybe that is why we can never have unification (well we tried twice)
I gave up something I care for very dearly, something that has been a part of me and always will be, but considered harsh to some. This, what I gave up, may be challenging to keep that way throughout the course of Lent, but, I shall try my very best, and nothing but. What I gave up, is making fun of trolls which find writing English difficult. I know, it's a pretty big thing, especially for me, but I will try.
No in english. It's really hard, but I'm becoming more aware of it. So if things go smoothly, I will stop swearig by the end of the march.
and then why not continue to do so. Edit: Though really I've been thinking of giving up the forums for lent (and more)
Just where in the world do you live? Lent is part of the Catholic faith and is a period where you give up something until it ends... I don't know the details, but I know that much. These guys are all rolling over in their graves right about now.
i live in norway. why do you ask? and do you ekspect every person in the world to be femiliar with the traditions of your religion?
