That limits religious freedoms. Churches should remain tax-free so that the US can keep it's secular identity.
The united states is that insane religious nut job the world that would rather live under the grand old Karl de grosse- A German friend of mine. (Mind you a catholic)
So? Honestly its clear to most people which religion the united states loves and follows to the point of annoyance, or maybe its because of my location.
I understand. But that could be attributed to the fact that nearly 80% of the US population would consider themselves Christian.
Yeah, which I don't mind (I am one of those 80%) but its just so annoying when there the uneducated Christian who get pissed at people for supporting Evolution or go around trying to attack all other faiths. Not to mention I have to go through 20 mins of "Orthodox Christian, Not Jewish"
Ya, i know what you mean ive considered droping out of critianinity many times because of them. But one drop of bad does not contaminate the ocean of good. or something like that i was trying to qoute Gandi.
Well Im kinda of specious as of right now I have been accepted to go to a private (christian) school and I am hoping they view evolution highly.
Depends on the teacher. some may want to but he may have to do it under-cover {principal might not be keen on it}. but no matter how many religions people share {nationalities, cultures, even family} we are all different and must accept certain truths. those truths can come from relgion or any thing else but it IS the individual who must willingly accept them. Religion helped in some ways unite but it is not a sole force nor is it without faults as i have said before {and the other atheist who i respect their veiws}.
I believe that in the early years of humanity (about beginning to 1400s, but correct me if I'm wrong) when science had an extremely small presence in society, people needed answers for things that their period's technology couldn't explain, so these things seemed to be magic or divine intervention (look at Kublai Khan's attempted invasion of Japan). You have to understand that things like spontaneous generation were solid theories up until the 1600s I believe (again, correct me if I'm wrong). Religion also provides a spiritual and moral focal point and a not as foreboding death as ceasing to exist.
Well one I looked into had a giant banner with the words "The Bible is 100% truth and can not be argued with, gods words are law in this book" I rejected this school.
The Ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians had superior scientific knowledge to Medieval Europe (and maybe even the Medieval Muslim world) on several fields, especially the rest of the galaxy. Science in that time was quite a big deal back then. As for the Middle Ages...well, it didn't come much further than alchemy, I'm afraid.
Good move, any person who is into something THAT much is not to be challenged on it...less your looking for a fight that is
Then go. People I know who were brought up in Catholic schools are generally more disciplined. You might actually learn something for a change.
Hell is discipline his problem? if your in the U.S just go into JROTC or some other cadet corp. THAT'S Discipline made me the person i am today. {Computer literacy however is not my strength}
Actually military discipline as made me a giant asshole I am today, My parents were all for it and trained me in all that discipline, and now when I have the ability to revolt or do whatever without them knowing I jump on the opportunity, yet when there in sight I admittedly jump back into a disciplined state. I also see the School as weak for not being like my parents and screwing with them is fun.
Wait how can you revolt when you just said you go back to a disciplined state when your parents see you? besides discipline is NOT loyalty or respcet. people confuse that with intergrity, also souse your discipline to get cool things on cristmas big whoop.
