If the Roman Empire fell like it did, there would be no uber empire replacing them. There were a bunch of disorganized German tribes, and none of them could have ever created an uber empire, or even a large empire, anything like the Romans had. There were empires, i.e. the holy roman empire, but they didn't bring Europe out of the middle ages. The western half of the Roman Empire would have never fell, or the Eastern half would have had to somehow reclaim the western empire...and hold onto it.

I think, instead of the Middle Ages not happening, which is lunacy, there is a better question.

How about, how would the world be if the Bubonic Plague never happened? Imagine how many Da Vincis and Michelangelos we lost in that plague.

There were like 5 different bubonic plague outbreaks, dating back to the siege of Athens during the Pellopenessian wars.

He might be referring to the Black Death, which was the largest outbreak (from 1350 to 1450). People sometimes were healthy in the morning, and dead in the evening. A writer during that time said, IIRC, "People ate lunch with their friends, and dinner with their ancestors in paradise".

Well the Manor system would not have been weakened, nor peasant wages rise

I'm obviously referring to the black death. You know, the one that killed a third of Europe?

I know, but there were many other black deaths, so another was pretty much inevitable.

If the disease never appeared. Its not inevitable, its just inevitable for a disease that already exists to strike multiple times. So, if the disease didn't exist.

Well then, that would change a lot of things. First and foremost being, the Athenians might have not lost the siege of Athens, and might have not had their empire destroyed.

More recently, Europe may have had a larger population and been significantly more advanced.

What would the world be like if hernan cortes failed to conquer the Aztecs, making them all the more wiser against European tactics

The next Spaniard who'd sail there would take more than 300 men and would've wiped them out anyway.
