I agree. Cain was stained with those allegations, and stains don't come off.

If you can easily prove something wrong, then the American people will agree. This issue was over exaggerated by the Liberal media. As time goes by the truth should come out. Have you noticed that she has not continued her attack on him after this? You think a court case would happen.

Herman is also not really an appealing choice if Romney wants the independents.

Then he has made too many mistakes to be president because he has said that numerous times.

He wants someone experience. Not a businessman. Business and politics are two separate fields. And to bring in someone who you were just campaigning against a few months ago would be...difficult. Besides, Cain is a dumbs. He called Africa a country!

According to Elephant Watcher in their latest post, Rob Portman actually might be a good choice. He generally does not swing anyone, but he it the governor of a swing state which can prove valuable. What Portman is really "another boring white guy" and that is it. One is the up side to him being picked? He reinforces Romney's campaign theme of economic expertise. Another good thing; he does not really have anything that will harm Romney. This is good if you consider him Romney's choice rather than the nightmare John McCain had with Sarah Palin. He only has one weakness: his association with Bush's policies. Portman was the OMB director under Bush. This is minor, but it further opens up the possibility of scenario 3 as I had explained in that other thread (remember the 3 scenarios?). Thus, Obama would have a greater chance to compare Romney to Bush. This is in part 2 of their analysis.

They will discuss Christie and Rubio in part 3 and they already did all the former candidates .

What did they say about all the former GOP candidates? According to them, the line of names: Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, etc. is enough to make a strong Republican cringe. Seriously, they say in part 1 of their analysis that the only thing the Republican race for nomination did was point out candidates' weaknesses. Jon Hunstman maybe acceptable, but he cannot be accepted because he ran to the left of Romney. Putting in Ron Paul? Its somewhat like Sarah Palin all over again. Not that Paul is inexperienced, but he might go rogue.

Meanwhile, Obama is still at 35% for winning and Romney is still at 65%. They say this will remain the same until Obama takes a clear campaign path and then they will recalculate the odds. They say it is important for Obama to convince the voters that Romney's experience in business means nothing.

Any candidate Romney picks should have at least these 3 pro's:
    1) Experience (that would be another Sarah Palin all over again if it was an inexperienced person)
    2) Good at handling the economy (reinforces Romney's campaign slogan of fixing the economy
    3) Moderate (for picking up independents)

I think Portman has 1 and 2, but I am not sure about 3. They never really explain if he is conservative or moderate. That is why I could only put in that he is midwestern as an advantage because I did not no. But he probably is moderate.

@RickPerryLover I am just repeating what they said.

Well that just shows they are idiots. Palin was a blessing for McCain. The only time McCain polled ahead of Obama was when he announced Sarah as his running mate. The reason McCain lost was because he was a boring old white guy, not because of Sarah Palin.

Rob Portman does seem to be an independent. So here is my analysis. What Romney wants is a person like Tim Pawlenty or Rob Portman: a moderate to help pick up independents that Romney alienated, someone experienced to add on to Romney's level of experience (and not to have a Palin fiasco) and to reinforce the image Romney has painted of himself as the candidate to save the economy. As I have already said, Tim Pawlenty and Rob Portman fit the criteria. So yeah.

You know in recent days the buzz is Pawlenty has got it. The rumor is sparked from a recent ad.

So why did he go down in the polls if Sarah Palin was such a God send? I do not think she is terrible woman, but she became a laughingstock to the left which helped contribute to a defeat, but did not entirely cause the defeat. However, Elephant Watcher has not said the reason McCain lost was because of Palin, just that she caused some troubles.
