    Yeah I understand that part, but what I am saying is what have they done for the most part. Besides fighting off the Byzantines and such.

    For the most part they have been pretty stable. Its a bit of a myth that they're always fighting each other. They are often fighting outside influences (Anywhere from the Crusades to WW1 to wars with Israel).

    I mean the Middle East was pretty peaceful until the Ottomans were destroyed after WWI.

    The Mongols of the Middle East were Muslim in the later years of the Ilkhanate.
