Not all that hard if you give the barbarians a little more control than usual...

Then you still got constant rebellions. And I dont know about you but I do not want to be a soldier coming from Italy and fighting in Russia.

Well if they did take germany i imagine they would spend some years "Romanizing" the province like they did in gual, which eventually lead to a loyal population in gaul as well as builidng infrastructure and highways. I do not see why they could not do this to germany and eventually western russia. The romans could just offer the troops land in the new provinces to help keep them motivated, plus they would definatly have raised many more legions to hold all of this new territory.

But it would be extremely hard to govern. They TRIED to romanize Germany, and thats probably the sole reason German territories rebelled.

Didn't the Romans give at some point Roman citizenship to all free born men across the Empire?

One observation in here though, Germania wasn't really worth conquering at the time, it was almost a wasteland full of barbarians and no, Germania wasn't full of people in it, it had such a scarce population, but such a hostile enviroment, that the Romans didn't really bother conquering it, they could start colonizing Russia through Crimea though.

Northern Germania was basically flat land with woods crowded with warriors waiting for Roman invaders...

Please correct me if I am wrong but I remember reading that Romans (imperial era) did do a lot of revenge operations in deep in to Germany and got huge amounts of gold and silver from looting.

I believe so. They were actually very successful in Germania after the defeat of Varrus which brings me to wonder why they did not try to Romanize the Germanic tribes again, seeing as they had learned from their mistakes with Varrus about not jumping straight into ambushes.

One more question relating to the subject, why didn't the Romans conquer all of Romania, isn't that area mineral rich?

Honestly, I have no idea lol. I think it was because the new emperor just wanted to let Rome settle down.

Maybe the Dacian civilization didn't occupy all of modern day Romania and the Romans just wanted to wipe out the Dacians and take their lands.

They probably at that point didn't know the area was mineral rich.

Well there was the amber road that ran through parts of germany, but yea other then that there was not much in germany that the romans would have wanted. I was simply saying that, if they were to get to russia they would of had to go through germany first, for instance if varus succeeded in his attemps at romanization instaed of losing three legions, then it would have been possible for the romans to reach russia.
