He never said you specifically was afraid of China. He meant you as in the USA.

You can't forget the fact that if China wen't to war against America their entire economy would collapse. They depend on us more than we do on them.

China wouldn't really care if there people were starving, in my opinion. I see this conversation taking place:

    Chinese leader - CL
    Defense Minister - DM

    CL: Any news?
DM: Our people are starving in the streets.
    CL: How many dead?
    DM: 200 thousand.
CL: Oh well, we have a billion left.

You need money for more things than feeding the people. Look at North Korea. Their people are starving their military still sucks due to lack of money. They can't afford to even fuel most of their weapons.

They have a big enough resource and money reserve. Its like the US, if we ever really needed more money to survive, we would tap into our gold reserves. I'm almost positive China has the same thing.

I'm sure they do but I doubt it's enough for a full on war with America and our allies. Not to mention that in a modern war technology is more important than numbers. Our navy and airforce alone could probably beat the Chinese. Don't forget they have India right on their border who is an ally of ours and also has good technology and massive numbers.

This is a very simplistic way of viewing war.

Exactly. That is why war with Pakistan or China or North Korea or any country with a nuke is silly. Far more destruction than good gained. Which is why this talk of attacking China is silly billy.

I'm not confident North Korea could even get a nuke launched without hurting themselves.

I have to agree with you on that. After what happened to that anticlimactic ending to their rocket, I doubt there own...capabilities. But that doesn't change the fact that they have a nuke, and they can launch it at South Korea or Japan.

    India.is.not.an.ally.of.ours.

By that logic I could say Switzerland is an ally of ours because we are not enemies.

No, we have strong relation. But we are not allies. You are not allies with every nation you have strong relations with. In fact, US - Indian relations hit a slight downturn when Obama announced his intention to improve US - China relations. Until 2004, we considered India to be a strategic backwater. We didn't especially care about them. Now, we are supporting them in their bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. I'm glad we are, as a major emerging power they deserve a seat. They are currently a non-permanent member. The 5 current permanent members are China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, and United States.

A quick wikipedia scanning has convinced me that we are allies with India in everything but name.

Yes they are. They might not be NATO members but we sell them technology and train with their forces all the time. For all intents and purposes India is an ally.

Again, they are an ally in everything but name. If India and Pakistan were to go to war, I would place my bets that India would get U.S. support.
