In the Moslem faith it isn't a sin to mask your faith in order to deceive so called infidels. He's shown support over and over for the terrorist rebels in places like Libya, Egypt and Syria.
Can I get an intelligent and rational American's opinion on their most popular newspapers? From my limited experience I gathered that The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times in particular were pretty good, while USA Today was rather populist and sensationalist, and contained a lot of filler.
I usually read the BBC and Al Jazeera, but sometimes I read NPR too. I find their website's articles to be vastly inferior to their actual radio show though. Also, do you have an amusing name for every godless commie news propaganda? What's Al Jazeera's?
I used to watch major news networks, but they became ridiculous and intolerable, so it's either local Toronto news or Jon Stewart for making fun of the news.
Yup the Post (Washington Post) is also pretty good but most other papers aren't read outside of their locale
Today's top stories on Tropico News Today. Women are naming their children after Presidente! Rebels are being beaten back into the Jungles by Presidente's loyal forces. And the Environmentalists are all just ignorant tree huggers.. Except.. for the wonderful Sunny Flowers.
Isn't CSPAN just congress? I love politics as much as the next guy but even that sounds too dry for me.
Not always, but generally speaking, yes. That's what makes it so great: there's no filter or bias when you see the source material for yourself. Understanding government is a lot easier when you understand who is in government, and the best way to do that is to watch them in action. Oh believe you me, it's far more entertaining than it might seem at first. A lot of people forget this, but Congressmen and government officials are just people like us, and just like us they're prone to hilarious mistakes, ridiculous analogies, and, believe it or not, having fun.
I can back this up, at least for the Australian parliament. It's supposed to be a place for orderly debate between the two major parties on issues involving the nation, and it sometimes is. Much more often though, it devolves into a mud slinging fest with yelling, jeering and personal attacks screamed across the hall and the Speaker of the House feebly shouting "Order!" to little avail. They do end up getting stuff done, but are extremely troublesome and immature in the process. The British parliament is a little different, but at times no less entertaining. The Prime Minister and Opposition Leader behave just like rich stuck up private schoolboys, and their respective parties are schoolmates and cronies, laughing along at their unfunny jokes.
I like BBC International, Fox News because it's crazy, and Al Jazeera because it covers the Middle East and Africa the best.
