A question on the Balkans in general:

Has there ever been a strong, independent Balkan power apart from Yugoslavia? I can't recall in history where they haven't been under the control/influence of the Greeks, Romans, Goths, Huns, Byzantines, Ottomans, Russians, etc.

No probably not only if you take Karantania and their tradition in northern Balkan not. The Yugoslavia was the strongest independent nation in Balkans. But you are wrong. There was never a Russian territory only influence from Soviet Union. The Soviets have had their bases there, but they didnt own the Balkan.

you arent right whit that. Italy had influence in start of war in 90s but after 1995 it didnt. thats because Italy didnt want a war right infront of them so they "talked" with Croatian politicians in start of 90s to stop the war.
And you should know that Italy wants Croatian coast so they had have some involvence in the start of war to maybee get some teritory, and they would suport Croatia instead.

Thats my thought. Today they dont have any influence because they dont need it. Everything they want can say to EU and they will order Croatia to do that. If you know what was ZERP than you know what am I talking about.Italian fisherman ship hunt for fish in Croatian part of Adriatic sea, so that hit them very well.
So they told that to EU(also your countrie did) and the ZERP was gone.

I was thinking about that and ofcourse. The Istra region was under Italy so yeah I'm from Slovenian Littoral (i hope i spelled right) and i know about hatred to the Italians I hate them preety much too so yeah, after thinking you're right the Italy doesn't have anymore influence over Croatia since they found their only word for us Slavs. If you don't know they called us S'ciavi what means slaves. So yeah I preety much hate Italy because of that word and if you know some of Slovenian languge you should totally watch the movie called ?rni Bratje, but I don't know where to get it sorry. Maybe you could find it on youtube.

well it's time after first world war in 1930 and it shows the kind of a rebels called Black Brothers who spread Yugoslavian propaganda around Gorica and Gorica region in Slovenia. It shows attitude from Italian agressors towards Yugoslavian's too. Well anyways at the end some of these young boys called Black Brothers die because the Italians tourchour him and on his funereal the people sing one of the forbidden songs called Vstala Primorska. ;)
