We have as much of a right to share our opinions as do you. We will not be censored because someone whines about it.

Your members, but that's a universal term to all forum goers. Your not plebs, which I assume your referring too. In point of fact, your most accurately called Senators. As such, your in that position because your supposed to act better and behave more orderly. Your not supposed to offend anyone, or anger anyone because that merely leads to problems.

Besides, does Pedro have to offend anyone to get his point across? fucking faggot? Yuri? Ackton Communistan (or however the hell his name is spelled)? You don't have to offend people to make an argument.

There has to be a system for enforcement. One that will probably sort out any bullshit claims that because you calmly said you disliked, say, Anarcho-Capitalism your insulting someone's beliefs. Probably by making it go through Stalin first or something.

Either way, you can still talk about things critically. You just can't insult the shit out of them? Again, is being able to cuss people out really such a vital necessity to posting? Is the ability to troll a must have? Perhaps being able to insult other posters is critical to a debate?

You would not being forced to stop having opinions, your being forced to word them differently. If anything, no one has really gotten offended by your arguments. You would not going to be "censored" in the slightest.

We're not supposed to 'act better and behave more orderly'. We're supposed to follow the rules and do our jobs. The fact that we have survived this long without any need for a code of conduct is evidence that that's entirely possible. The reason you want this passed is to restrict the speech of moderators.
Offending people is never reason to ban speech. It's ludicrous to think that it's okay to shut someone up because you don't like what they're saying. That's precisely what you want to do, and you can support it because it doesn't affect you, it only affects your opponents. If there is a standard of behavior, it should be for all members. The mods are not some special case that need to be below or above the law, we're members just the same.
Another ridiculous idea. We should always have the capacity to insult someone's beliefs. To say that we don't is to make us part of a restricted underclass.
No, we can't. Under your code of conduct it doesn't matter what we say, just how it affects people. If people are insulted by our beliefs, then we cannot express our beliefs. If people are insulted by our arguments, we cannot express our arguments. That's positively dystopian.
There isn't any right or reason to prevent these things. The insults rule in the status quo is ridiculous enough, but extending it to include 'indirect insults' widens its meaning to anything so long as someone gets upset. And knowing these forums, someone will get upset at anything.

Kali, you are not "members just the same." You have much greater powers than anyone else. You are elevated above regular forum goers by virtue of your mod powers. You can't accept that reality without accepting the added responsibilities of not being offensive. We aren't demanding you give up your right to your opinions, we're demanding you not insult and harass the regular user base who do not have the same powers as you. You are, indeed, a "special case."

I cannot and do not use those powers to any end except to enforce the rules. If my enforcement of the rules was somehow affected by my posting on the forums, you might have a legitimate argument. However, it isn't. Mods have been able to apply the rules justly throughout the history of the site and maintain completely separate forum behavior. There is no reason to restrict our forum behavior. We are not role models, and if we were, we're good ones, because we don't break the rules. If a regular member acted exactly as I do, he would not be breaking the rules.
There is no such responsibility. One shouldn't and doesn't exist. It is never okay to punish someone or control someone because what they're saying 'is offensive'. People aren't made of paper and even if they were, paper is 100% resistant to 'offensiveness'.

No one should give two shits about whether or not you've been offended. Big fucking deal. Grow up.
I do not insult or harass the user base, nor do I use my power or status as a moderator against them. It's been proven time and again that I don't break the rules. Were I not a mod, I'd be no different and I would also not be breaking the rules. My conduct is 100% legitimate and whether or not my arguments offend your delicate sensibilities shouldn't and doesn't have any bearing on my status or actions as a moderator.

Whether you want to be or not, you are role models. You are the example regular forum members have to follow, the law abiding, rule following, actively posting member.

By that logic then you should unban Che Flegal. All he did was offend people! That was the only thing he did wrong! Your argument is hypocritical to the extreme, given how vehemently you have argued in favor of Che being banned purely because he was offending people (and not because of his political beliefs as some people thought).

I would just like to point out that you've no offended me personally. On that note, I must ask for a justification for making the "Communism: stupid or dirty stupid" thread. What was the point of that if not to insult or harass the communist leading population of the forum? Also, I'm not saying you're breaking rules at all. You seem to be confusing this thread with the threat toward your modship thread. I'm not targeting you at all, just using you as an example. What I am saying is that there should be a rule of conduct so you would be breaking the rules.

EDIT: weird, I can't seem to fix the quote boxes.

I'll try and edit your quote boxes for you and then edit in my response.

EDIT: The reason it wouldn't work is because you put the forward slash "\" instead of the backward slash "/" in the quote tag.

FYI. Che was primarily banned for making death threats, which could have gotten the site in trouble with the Canadian authorities mind you.

    Ah thanks for the help.

Well I suppose that's true but threats are still offensive.

Again, blowing off your constituents means you'll be fired as soon as they can fire you.
And whatever, I don't have to appease you to get my ideas introduced. I can go to Romulus, fucking faggot, Pedro, etc. and ask them for their help.

If anything, your bitterness isn't hurting me, its hurting the forum. Your letting your grudge against me allow inherent problems to continue. Please stop it.

I'm sorry friends but I can't support censorship of free speech because certain members cant take criticism from Kali, i will still listen to your suggestions though and I will try and compromise but this doesn't sit right with me.

Just out of curiosity, is there any feature on the forum to erm. . . block people and hide their posts? I think that would be a fair way to deal with offensiveness.

I am pretty sure there is, have never used it since I am a mod but it may not allow you to block mods. A lot of block features have that exception. If it does allow you to then that is rather stupid, considering we often need to warn people to stop doing stuff.

I said it before, and I'll say it again.

"There are people who propose transparency in all staff decisions. I feel that to be ridiculous. A staff needs some opaqueness and privacy to function the right way. Also, I have noticed, that most people don't even really want this. I will keep you up with eventual progress, but some things are just there to be kept private."

"I will go to you if I want advice. However, if a mod addresses an issue, I will not discuss about it with the people, because privacy is not invented without reason."

So, do you still think I am, I quote, 'blowing off my constituents'? If they'd want to fire me, I'll let them go ahead. Go start a petition and present it to the mods. But people would be stupid to sign it, because they can all read what I wrote in my campaign thread.

Sure. Go ahead, I won't try to stop you. Why do you have the illusion that I think I have any power over you, or that I'm trying to even get some? I'm a Tribune to help people, not to get any form of power.

Hahaha! Excuse me? A grudge against you? My bitterness hurting the forum? You've watched too many comedy movies.

Slightly off topic, but, nice avatar.
